SC Schwaz secured an impressive 2-1 away win over SVG Reichenau in the Austrian 3. Liga, striking late to take all three points from a hard-fought contest in Innsbruck.

It was a match that swung back and forth. Reichenau responded well to going behind early on, levelling early in the second half to set up a tense finale, but Schwaz found the decisive moment in the closing stages to claim a valuable road victory.

Match overview

Schwaz began with intent, pressing Reichenau's defenders high and forcing turnovers in the attacking third. That aggressive approach paid off with the opening goal, and for much of the first half the visitors looked the more likely side to add a second.

The game changed after the interval. Reichenau pushed their full-backs higher, committed more bodies forward and were rewarded with an equaliser that lifted the home crowd. From there, it became a question of nerve — and Schwaz held theirs.

Key moments

• 23' — 0-1. Schwaz won the ball high up the pitch and punished Reichenau immediately with a precise finish from the angle of the penalty area.
• 39'. Reichenau went close from a free kick, the ball drifting just wide of the far post.
• 61' — 1-1. A well-worked move down the left ended with a low cross tapped in at the back post.
• 88' — 1-2. Schwaz won it late, a long throw flicked on and converted from close range as Reichenau's defence failed to clear.
• 90+4'. A final Reichenau corner came to nothing, and the referee's whistle confirmed the away win.

The tactical battle

Schwaz's high press was the defining feature of the first hour. By denying Reichenau time on the ball at the back, they forced the home side into longer passes, which played directly into the hands of their physically strong centre-backs.

Once Reichenau equalised, though, the momentum genuinely shifted. The home side's wide overloads caused Schwaz problems, and for a fifteen-minute spell the visitors were pinned back. The decisive factor was Schwaz's response to that pressure: they reorganised, defended their box with numbers and then took the chance that came their way from a set piece.

It was not a flawless performance, but it was an effective one — the kind of resilient away display that earns respect in a division as competitive as the Austrian 3. Liga.

Standout performers

Schwaz's centre-backs were excellent throughout, dealing with a steady supply of crosses and clearances under pressure. The goalscorer who opened the account set the tempo with relentless running, and the substitute who grabbed the late winner will not forget the moment quickly.

For SVG Reichenau, the equaliser came from their best player on the day, a driving midfielder who consistently broke lines with the ball at his feet. Their goalkeeper also made two smart stops to keep the score level before the late blow.

What it means for the table

For Schwaz, this is a result that strengthens their position in the Austrian 3. Liga and adds weight to their away record. Winning at a venue like Reichenau requires durability, and the late goal will give the squad a psychological lift going into the next round of fixtures.

Reichenau will feel they deserved a draw. Having fought back so well, conceding from a long throw in the 88th minute is a frustrating way to lose — and a reminder that concentration at set pieces is often the difference between one point and none.
