SV Fugen 1-2 SV Lochau: Late Winner Settles Tight Austrian 3.Liga Contest

SV Lochau claimed a hard-fought 2-1 victory at SV Fugen on Saturday, 10 October 2026, using a late second-half goal to settle a tight Austrian 3.Liga encounter. In a match that swung back and forth after the break, Lochau’s composure in the final third proved the difference.

The away win keeps SV Lochau in the hunt for a strong league position, while SV Fugen are left to rue missed chances in a game where a draw would not have flattered them.

Match Overview

SV Fugen began with energy, pressing high and looking to use the width of their home pitch. SV Lochau absorbed the early pressure, defended compactly and looked dangerous on the counter. The first half was balanced but short on clear-cut chances, with both goalkeepers largely protected by disciplined back lines.

Lochau took the lead before half-time through a well-worked move, and from there the match became a test of Fugen’s response. The home side found an equaliser early in the second half, but Lochau regained control in the closing stages and found the winner when it mattered most.

Key Moments

• 34th minute – Lochau take the lead: A quick move down the left ended with a low cross and a neat finish at the near post.
• 52nd minute – Fugen equalise: The home side responded after the break, capitalising on a loose ball in the box and firing home from close range.
• 67th minute – Fugen denied: Fugen’s best chance to take the lead came from a set piece, but a header drifted narrowly wide.
• 78th minute – Lochau win it: A patient passing sequence pulled Fugen out of shape, and the decisive finish was slipped past the goalkeeper.
• 90+3rd minute – Final chance: Fugen threw bodies forward in stoppage time, but Lochau defended the final cross comfortably.

Tactical Story

SV Lochau’s 4-3-3 shape allowed them to control central areas without committing too many players forward. Their midfield trio rotated well, closing the space in front of the defence and forcing Fugen to attack through wide areas. When Lochau won the ball, they looked to play forward quickly rather than overcomplicate possession.

Fugen’s 4-2-3-1 created chances, especially after the interval, but they struggled to turn territory into clear opportunities. Their equaliser came from persistence rather than structure, and as the game opened up, Lochau found more room between the lines. The winning goal was a perfect example of their patience and movement.

Standout Players

Matthias Keller was Lochau’s key figure, driving forward from midfield and providing the assist for the winner. Simon Brandner defended resolutely at centre-back and won several important aerial duels, while Florian Gasser took his first-half goal with real quality.

For SV Fugen, David Hirsch was lively throughout and scored the equaliser, while Michael Riedmann worked tirelessly in midfield. Their goalkeeper also made two important saves to keep the score level before Lochau’s late breakthrough.

What It Means

SV Lochau leave with three valuable away points and a confidence boost from winning a close match on the road. In a league where fine margins often decide promotion and relegation battles, this kind of victory can be worth more than just the points on the board.

SV Fugen remain competitive but will be frustrated by another result that slipped away. If they can convert their second-half pressure into goals more consistently, they have the tools to climb the table. For now, though, it is Lochau celebrating a well-earned 2-1 win.
