Kremser and Wiener SC served up a seven-goal thriller in the Austrian 3.Liga, with the hosts edging a remarkable contest 4-3. It was a match that swung one way and then the other, delivering everything a neutral spectator could ask for and a nerve-shredding afternoon for both sets of supporters.

Match Overview

From the very first whistle it was clear this would not be a cagey affair. Both sides committed numbers forward, defended with a certain amount of adventure, and treated the ball as something to be moved rapidly towards the opposition goal rather than protected. The result was an open, breathless contest that produced seven goals and countless near misses.

Kremser's attacking play was the standout feature of the match. Their movement in the final third consistently pulled the Wiener SC back line out of shape, and their finishing in the decisive moments proved the difference between the two teams on a day when neither defence could claim to have been in control.

Key Moments

• Early exchanges: The opening goals set the tone, with both sides trading blows in a frantic first period.
• Kremser take charge: A spell of sustained pressure gave the hosts the upper hand and forced Wiener SC to chase the game.
• The response: Wiener SC refused to fold, scoring to keep themselves within touching distance and setting up a tense finish.
• The decisive fourth: Kremser's fourth goal proved to be the winner, arriving at a moment when the visitors had begun to believe an equaliser was on.
• Late drama: Wiener SC pushed forward in the closing minutes and had chances to level, but Kremser held on.

Tactical Story

This was a match decided in the transitions. Neither side was able to maintain defensive solidity for extended periods, and every turnover in midfield threatened to become a goalscoring opportunity. Kremser's willingness to commit their full-backs high created overloads in wide areas, but it also left them exposed to Wiener SC's quick counter-attacks, which explains how the visitors managed to score three times despite spending much of the match on the back foot.

Wiener SC's own defensive line played with a high risk, pushing up in an attempt to squeeze the space in which Kremser's playmakers could operate. Against a less clinical opponent, that strategy might have worked; against a Kremser attack in this mood, it proved costly.

In the final quarter, the game became a matter of nerve and fitness. Kremser's ability to keep possession for slightly longer spells in the closing minutes was crucial in running down the clock.

Standout Performers

Kremser's forward line will take the plaudits after a four-goal team performance, with the combination play in the final third a highlight of the afternoon. Their midfield also deserves credit for continuing to create chances even as the contest became stretched and chaotic.

For Wiener SC, the attacking display was genuinely impressive. Scoring three goals away from home in this league is no small achievement, and the character shown to stay in the contest after falling behind will be a positive their coaching staff can build on.

Season Impact

For Kremser, victories in high-scoring matches build belief. A 4-3 win, however entertaining, will also provide the coaching staff with plenty of material for the video session, particularly regarding the defensive lapses that allowed the visitors back into the game. If they can combine this attacking potency with greater solidity, they will be a difficult side to stop.

Wiener SC leave with nothing despite scoring three times, and that is the cruellest kind of defeat. Their attacking output suggests they will win plenty of matches this season, but the standings are unforgiving to teams that leak four goals on the road.
