SV Ilz produced a dominant away performance to beat SK Fürstenfeld 3-1 in the Austrian Landesliga on Saturday, September 26, 2026. The visitors scored three times and controlled large periods of the match, handing Fürstenfeld a disappointing home defeat.

The result sees SV Ilz climb the Landesliga standings, while SK Fürstenfeld are left to examine defensive errors that proved costly. Ilz's attacking efficiency was the difference, as they converted key chances at important moments.

Match overview

SV Ilz began on the front foot and took the lead inside the first 20 minutes. Their high pressing forced SK Fürstenfeld into mistakes, and the away side's midfield trio dominated the center of the park. Fürstenfeld equalised against the run of play, but Ilz restored their advantage before half-time and never looked back.

In the second half, Ilz managed the game smartly. They dropped slightly deeper, invited Fürstenfeld forward, and then punished them with quick counter-attacks. The third goal sealed the points and highlighted the gulf in cutting edge between the two sides on the night.

Key moments

• 14th minute – SV Ilz 1-0: Michael Hofer opened the scoring with a precise header from a right-sided cross.
• 32nd minute – SK Fürstenfeld 1-1: Lukas Weber equalised for the home side, finishing from close range after a goalmouth scramble.
• 44th minute – SV Ilz 2-1: Thomas Maier restored Ilz's lead with a powerful strike from just outside the box.
• 71st minute – SV Ilz 3-1: Stefan Bauer sealed the win, breaking clear on the counter and finishing calmly past the goalkeeper.

Tactical story

SV Ilz lined up in a 4-3-3 that pressed aggressively and looked to win the ball high. Their midfielders rotated well, creating passing lanes and allowing the full-backs to push forward. The front three were fluid, with Hofer and Bauer interchanging positions to confuse the Fürstenfeld defence.

SK Fürstenfeld struggled to build from the back under pressure. Their equaliser came from a rare moment of penalty-box chaos, but they were otherwise kept at arm's length. Defensive lapses for the second and third goals proved decisive, and the home side's late substitutions could not change the momentum.

Standout players

Michael Hofer was a constant threat for SV Ilz, scoring the opener and causing problems with his movement. Thomas Maier controlled the midfield and added a goal, while Stefan Bauer's pace in behind was a valuable outlet.

For SK Fürstenfeld, Lukas Weber took his goal well and worked hard, but the team's defensive unit will need to review the goals conceded. Goalkeeper Andreas Pichler made several saves to prevent a heavier defeat.

Season impact and standings

The three points move SV Ilz into a stronger position in the Austrian Landesliga table, reinforcing their credentials as a side capable of challenging near the top. Their away form is becoming a real asset.

SK Fürstenfeld remain in a mid-to-lower table scrap and must tighten up defensively. The team has shown attacking promise, but conceding three at home will be a concern for the coaching staff as the season progresses.

Full-time: SK Fürstenfeld 1-3 SV Ilz.
