Goals were the story of the night in the Austrian Landesliga as Hellas Kagran beat SV Gerasdorf Stammer 4-2 in a six-goal contest that swung one way and then the other before the hosts finally pulled clear.

A frantic opening in Vienna

Hellas Kagran began the match at a high tempo, pressing aggressively in the opposition half and forcing Gerasdorf Stammer into a series of rushed clearances. The early pressure told, and the home side took the lead with a well-taken finish after a sustained spell of possession around the penalty area.

Rather than retreat, Kagran pushed for a second and got it, doubling their advantage with a move that started deep in midfield and ended with a shot across the goalkeeper. At that point the match looked comfortable — but Landesliga football rarely stays comfortable for long.

Gerasdorf Stammer fight back

SV Gerasdorf Stammer responded with real purpose. A change in shape, pushing an extra body into midfield, gave them a foothold in the game and disrupted Kagran's passing rhythm. They pulled one back before the interval with a sharp finish following a corner, and the momentum visibly shifted.

Early in the second half the visitors levelled the score, and suddenly the home crowd was anxious. Gerasdorf's equaliser came from a quick transition, exploiting space behind Kagran's advanced full-backs, and for a fifteen-minute spell the away side looked the more likely to take all three points.

How Kagran reclaimed control

• Set-piece discipline: Kagran reorganised at the back and stopped conceding second balls from crosses.
• Fresh legs in wide areas: Substitutions injected pace and pinned Gerasdorf's full-backs deeper.
• Third goal: A quick counter-attack restored the lead, finished clinically inside the penalty area.
• Fourth goal: Late pressure told as Kagran sealed the result with a composed finish in the closing stages.

Tactical story

Kagran's 4-2 win was built on attacking width and a willingness to commit numbers forward, but it was their ability to reset after conceding twice that decided the game. Their midfield screened the back four better in the final half hour, forcing Gerasdorf to play longer passes that were comfortably dealt with.

Gerasdorf Stammer will look back on two soft concessions. Their pressing was effective in the middle third and their goals were well constructed, but the defensive errors at the moments when the game was level proved costly. Against a side as direct as Kagran, those lapses are punished quickly.

Standout performers

Kagran's forward line shared the goalscoring burden, with two players involved in multiple goals through a combination of finishing and assist play. Their central midfielder dictated the tempo in the second half. For Gerasdorf, the player operating between the lines was the most dangerous outlet, repeatedly finding pockets of space and driving his team forward.

Season impact

A 4-2 home victory is worth more than three points in the Landesliga — it is a statement about resilience. Hellas Kagran move forward with confidence and a healthy goals-scored column, while SV Gerasdorf Stammer leave with the frustration of having dragged themselves back into the game only to let it slip. The reverse fixture should be one to circle in the calendar.
