ASK Kohfidisch suffered a narrow 0-1 defeat at home to SPG Edelserpentin in the Austrian Landesliga on October 4, 2026, with a single goal deciding a tense, hard-fought contest. The visitors’ disciplined defensive performance and a clinical finish midway through the second half were enough to take all three points back to Burgenland.

Match Overview

The match was a classic tactical battle. Kohfidisch, playing in front of their home supporters, enjoyed more possession but struggled to break down a well-organised Edelserpentin side. The visitors sat deep in a 4-5-1 formation, congesting the middle of the pitch and forcing Kohfidisch into wide areas. The first half was largely a stalemate, with both teams cancelling each other out and creating only half-chances.

Key Moments

• 22nd minute: Kohfidisch’s best chance of the first half fell to their striker, but his shot from 12 yards was blocked bravely by a sliding defender.
• 58th minute – Goal: Against the run of play, SPG Edelserpentin scored the winner. A quick counterattack ended with a low cross that was converted at the near post.
• 74th minute: Kohfidisch pushed men forward and forced a superb save from the visiting goalkeeper, who tipped a dipping effort over the bar.
• 90+2 minutes: A last-gasp corner for Kohfidisch was cleared off the line, summing up their frustration.

Tactical Story

Kohfidisch lined up in a 4-4-2 and tried to play through the lines, but Edelserpentin’s midfield five suffocated the space between defence and attack. The home side’s full-backs pushed high, leaving gaps behind, and that is exactly where the winning goal originated. Edelserpentin, happy to defend their lead, dropped even deeper in the final 20 minutes and relied on clearances and time-wasting to see out the result.

Standout Players

SPG Edelserpentin’s goalkeeper was the man of the match, making three crucial saves, including a stunning reflex stop late on. Their goalscorer also worked tirelessly, pressing from the front. For Kohfidisch, the central defender was solid throughout, and the right winger was their most creative outlet, but the team lacked a cutting edge in the final third.

Season Impact

The win lifts SPG Edelserpentin up the Landesliga table, giving them a valuable away victory that could prove pivotal in the race for a top-half finish. For ASK Kohfidisch, it is a missed opportunity to climb the standings; their home form will be a concern if they cannot convert possession into goals. The defeat leaves them looking over their shoulder at the teams below them. Next weekend, Kohfidisch travel to a direct rival, while Edelserpentin host a mid-table side as they look to build momentum.
