Key moments

• 9th minute: St. Polten Women opened the scoring after an aggressive high press.
• 32nd minute: A second goal doubled the home side’s advantage before half-time.
• 58th minute: St. Polten added a third with a fluent attacking move.

Tactical story

St. Polten Women’s victory was built on control, movement and relentless pressing. Their midfield won the majority of second balls, allowing the team to sustain attacks and keep Rapid Vienna pinned back. The wide players stretched the defence, while the central attackers found space between the lines throughout the match.

Rapid Vienna attempted to sit deeper and absorb pressure, but they struggled to keep possession long enough to relieve the pressure. When they did win the ball, their transitions were often too slow, allowing St. Polten to recover defensively. The home side’s discipline off the ball was just as impressive as their finishing.

Standout performers

St. Polten’s attacking players were central to the win, with sharp link-up play and clinical finishing in the final third. The midfield also controlled the game impressively, dictating the pace and ensuring Rapid Vienna had few opportunities to counter. For Rapid Vienna, the goalkeeper made several saves, but the team’s defensive shape was tested throughout.

Table impact

The three points strengthen St. Polten Women’s position in the Austrian Frauen Bundesliga and send a clear message to their title rivals. A 4-0 win at home is exactly the kind of result that builds confidence and goal difference. Rapid Vienna will need to recover quickly, as this defeat leaves them with work to do in the coming weeks.
