Austria Wien Women and Altach/Vorderland Women played out a competitive 1-1 draw in the Austrian Frauen Bundesliga on Saturday, 24 October 2026. The 19:00 kick-off delivered an evenly matched contest, with both sides enjoying spells of control and neither able to find a decisive second goal.

Match overview

Austria Wien Women began the match with more of the ball, building patiently from the back and looking to create overloads in wide areas. Altach/Vorderland Women, by contrast, sat compactly in a mid-block and looked dangerous on the counter-attack. That contrast in styles made for an absorbing first half, even if clear-cut chances were limited.

It was Altach/Vorderland who struck first, capitalising on a quick transition and finishing calmly after getting in behind the Austria Wien defence. The home side responded well, increasing the tempo after the interval and pushing more players into the attacking third. Their persistence paid off with an equaliser, and both teams had chances to win it in a lively closing period.

Key moments

• Altach/Vorderland opener: A fast break caught Austria Wien out of shape, and the visitors took the lead with a composed finish.
• Austria Wien equaliser: The hosts turned sustained pressure into a goal after the break, finding space in the box and converting from close range.
• Late chances: Both goalkeepers were called into action in the final 15 minutes as the game opened up.
• Final whistle: Neither side could find a winner, leaving the points shared in the Frauen Bundesliga.

Tactical story

Austria Wien Women controlled possession for long stretches, using their full-backs to stretch the Altach/Vorderland defensive line. Their best moments came when they switched play quickly and attacked the back post. However, they sometimes lacked a final pass in the first half, allowing Altach/Vorderland to stay organised and defend their lead.

Altach/Vorderland Women executed their counter-attacking plan well for much of the match. Their midfield stayed compact, their back line defended the penalty area bravely and their forwards carried a constant threat on the break. The equaliser forced them to defend deeper for a period, but they showed character to steady themselves and secure a point on the road.

Standout performers

Austria Wien's central midfielder dictated the tempo and was central to the second-half comeback, while the home goalkeeper made two important saves to prevent Altach/Vorderland from restoring their lead. For the visitors, the centre-back pairing was resilient under pressure, and the forward who scored the opener was a constant outlet throughout the match.

What the result means

The draw adds a point to both teams' tallies in the Austrian Frauen Bundesliga and keeps the contest tight in the standings. Austria Wien Women will take encouragement from their second-half response, while Altach/Vorderland Women will be pleased with their defensive discipline and away performance. With the season still developing, both sides will view this as a useful result but one that leaves room for improvement in the final third.
