Wiener Viktoria 1-3 Parndorf: Visitors Bounce Back to Advance

Wiener Viktoria's Austrian Cup campaign came to an abrupt end as they lost 3-1 to Parndorf at the Sportclub-Platz. The hosts started brightly but were undone by a ruthless second-half display from the visitors.

The opening stages saw Wiener Viktoria take the lead. In the 19th minute, a clever through ball split the Parndorf defense, and Samuel Mahrer calmly lifted the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper. The home side controlled much of the first half, looking sharp in possession.

Parndorf, however, grew into the match and equalized just before halftime. A defensive lapse from Viktoria allowed Parndorf striker Markus Pink to latch onto a loose ball and fire home from a tight angle. The teams went into the break level at 1-1.

Parndorf Turn It Around in the Second Half

After the interval, Parndorf emerged with renewed intensity. They took the lead in the 55th minute when a well-struck free kick from Florian Wiedl beat the Viktoria wall and nestled into the bottom corner. Wiener Viktoria tried to respond, but Parndorf’s defense held firm.

The decisive moment came in the 72nd minute. Parndorf broke quickly from a Viktoria corner, and Philipp Zulechner raced through one-on-one, finishing with composure to make it 3-1. Viktoria lacked the cutting edge to find a reply, and Parndorf comfortably saw out the game.

Parndorf's efficient performance saw them through to the next round, while Wiener Viktoria will rue missed chances from the first half.
