Northern Tigers claimed an impressive 3-0 victory over Prospect United FC on Sunday at Prospect Sports Field, strengthening their push for a top‑half finish in the Australian Welsh League. The Tigers produced a clinical display in wet conditions, leaving the home side frustrated.

Ruthless First Half

The visitors broke the deadlock in the 18th minute. A long throw‑in into the box was headed on by centre‑back Tom Cuthbert, and midfielder Luke Pearson swept the ball home from six yards. The goal came against the run of play, as Prospect United had started brightly.

Prospect's frustrations boiled over in the 78th minute when midfielder Alex Smith was shown a second yellow card for a late tackle, reducing the home side to ten men for the final stages. The Tigers comfortably saw out the remainder of the match.

The win lifted Northern Tigers to 5th place in the Australian Welsh League table, now just three points behind the playoff places. Prospect United remained in 10th, still within reach of the bottom three. The result extended Northern Tigers' unbeaten run to five matches.
