Match Report: Rochedale Rovers vs Brisbane City – NPL Queensland

17 July 2026 – A thrilling contest at Underwood Park saw Brisbane City edge past Rochedale Rovers 3–2 in a gripping National Premier Leagues Queensland encounter. The visitors struck twice in the first half to take control, but Rochedale fought back in the second period before City sealed the points with a late winner.

The match began at a frantic pace with both sides pressing high. Brisbane City took the lead in the 14th minute when midfielder Jake McGing latched onto a through ball and slotted past the Rovers goalkeeper. The visitors doubled their advantage just before the half-hour mark, as striker Lachlan Wright fired home from the edge of the box after a corner was only partially cleared.

Rochedale Rovers, however, refused to buckle. Early in the second half, a powerful run by winger Tomislav Kovačić ended with a low cross that defender Ben Halloran turned into his own net, giving the home side a lifeline. Just as the momentum appeared to swing back to the hosts, Brisbane City struck a killer blow. With 15 minutes remaining, Fraser Devlin collected a loose ball inside the area and drilled a left-footed shot into the bottom corner to restore the visitors' lead. Rochedale pushed hard for a third equaliser but could not find a way past City’s resolute defence.

The victory moved Brisbane City into third place in the NPL Queensland ladder, while Rochedale slipped to eighth. The result also extended City’s unbeaten run to five matches.
