Lernayin Artsakh 1-7 Shirak: Ruthless Shirak Run Riot in Armenian Cup

Shirak produced a devastating attacking display in the Armenian Cup on 28 October 2026, crushing Lernayin Artsakh 7-1. The visitors were relentless from the opening whistle, scoring early and never allowing Lernayin Artsakh to settle into the tie.

It was a performance defined by sharp movement, quick passing, and clinical finishing. Shirak led comfortably by half-time and added four more goals after the break, turning the cup match into a one-sided contest. Lernayin Artsakh kept fighting and grabbed a consolation goal, but the night belonged entirely to Shirak.

Match overview

Shirak opened the scoring inside the first ten minutes and set the tone for the evening. Their pressing forced Lernayin Artsakh into repeated turnovers, and the visitors capitalised with a second goal midway through the first half. A third arrived before the interval, leaving the home side with a mountain to climb.

Any hopes of a Lernayin Artsakh comeback were quickly extinguished after the restart. Shirak scored early in the second half to make it 4-0, and the goals continued to flow as the match wore on. Lernayin Artsakh’s consolation goal came late, a brief moment of reward for their persistence, but it did little to change the mood.

By the final whistle, Shirak had scored seven times, underlining their superiority in almost every department. The scoreline was harsh on Lernayin Artsakh, but it was a fair reflection of Shirak’s finishing and attacking ruthlessness.

Key moments

• 8th minute: Shirak take an early lead after a high turnover and a composed finish.
• 23rd minute: A second goal doubles Shirak’s advantage as Lernayin Artsakh struggle to clear their lines.
• 41st minute: Shirak score their third before half-time, effectively ending the contest.
• 49th minute: The visitors strike immediately after the restart to make it 4-0.
• Late consolation: Lernayin Artsakh score a deserved goal in the closing stages.

Tactical story

Shirak’s high press was the foundation of their victory. They closed down Lernayin Artsakh’s defenders quickly, forced long balls, and won possession in dangerous areas. Once they had the lead, they controlled the tempo and picked their moments to attack rather than simply chasing more goals.

Lernayin Artsakh tried to defend in a compact block, but they were stretched by Shirak’s wide play and unable to cope with the runners arriving in the box. When they did get forward, they left themselves exposed to quick counterattacks.

Standout performers

Davit Manoyan led the way with a hat-trick, showing composure in front of goal and excellent movement inside the penalty area. Artur Mkrtchyan added two goals, while Karen Muradyan and Gor Malakyan also got on the scoresheet. For Lernayin Artsakh, Narek Avetisyan’s late goal was the bright spot on a difficult night.

What the result means

The 7-1 win sends Shirak into the next round of the Armenian Cup with confidence and a statement of intent. Their attacking depth and ability to punish mistakes make them a dangerous knockout opponent. For Lernayin Artsakh, the focus must now shift to recovery and defensive improvement, because the cup exit exposed how quickly the tie slipped away once Shirak found their rhythm.
