Leones de Rosario Secure 2-0 Away Win Over Sportivo Barracas

Leones de Rosario produced a disciplined and clinical away performance to defeat Sportivo Barracas 2-0 on October 6, 2026, in the Argentine Group C Tebolidun League Manchester. A goal in each half, both scored by Tomás Aguirre, gave the visitors a deserved victory and left Sportivo Barracas searching for answers in front of their home support.

The result underlines Leones de Rosario's potential as a serious contender in Group C. They defended with composure, broke with purpose, and took their chances when they arrived. Sportivo Barracas saw plenty of the ball, but they lacked the precision needed to turn possession into goals.

Match Overview

Sportivo Barracas started with intent, pushing their full-backs high and trying to pin Leones de Rosario back. The hosts dominated the opening exchanges, but their final ball was repeatedly cut out by a well-organized visiting defense. Leones were happy to sit slightly deeper, absorb pressure, and attack through quick transitions.

That approach paid off in the 23rd minute. A turnover in midfield released Tomás Aguirre, who drove at the defense and fired a low shot beyond the goalkeeper to make it 1-0. Sportivo Barracas responded with more possession, but the goal gave Leones exactly the game state they wanted.

Key Moments

• 23rd minute: Tomás Aguirre opened the scoring with a sharp counter-attacking finish after a midfield interception.
• 39th minute: Sportivo Barracas forced a diving save from a long-range effort as they searched for an equalizer.
• 58th minute: Leones nearly added a second from a set-piece, but the header went narrowly wide.
• 68th minute: Aguirre struck again. A quick one-two on the edge of the box opened space, and he curled the ball into the far corner for 2-0.
• 81st minute: Sportivo Barracas won a penalty appeal, but the referee waved away the claims, and the hosts' frustration grew.

Tactical Story

Sportivo Barracas lined up in a 4-3-3 and tried to dominate the ball, but their midfield struggled to break through Leones de Rosario's compact 4-4-2 block. The visitors kept their lines close together, forced play wide, and then won the ball back with aggressive but controlled tackling.

Leones de Rosario's attacking plan was simple and effective: win possession, find Aguirre in space, and attack the spaces behind Sportivo Barracas' advanced full-backs. Both goals followed that template. Once they had the lead, they managed the game expertly, slowing the tempo and limiting the hosts to hopeful crosses.

Sportivo Barracas' manager tried to change things with substitutions, but the team's build-up remained too predictable. They moved the ball side to side without enough vertical penetration, and Leones' center-backs dealt comfortably with the aerial service.

Standout Players

Tomás Aguirre was the clear man of the match, scoring both goals and constantly troubling Sportivo Barracas with his movement. His first was a demonstration of direct running; his second showed composure and technique. He was the difference between the two sides.

Leones de Rosario's back line also deserves praise. The center-back pairing remained calm under pressure, while the goalkeeper commanded his area well and claimed several dangerous crosses. For Sportivo Barracas, the central midfielder Gonzalo Vera worked tirelessly, but he was often isolated in possession.

Standings and Season Impact

The 2-0 victory gives Leones de Rosario a significant boost in the Group C standings and reinforces their reputation as a dangerous away team. Winning on the road with a clean sheet is one of the surest signs of a side capable of challenging at the top end of the table.

Sportivo Barracas, meanwhile, are left with a frustrating home defeat. They will need to address their lack of cutting edge if they are to turn possession into points. The coming fixtures will be important for their confidence, while Leones de Rosario will look to build on a performance that combined defensive discipline with ruthless finishing.
