Estrella del Sur Alejandro Korn produced a gritty and ultimately rewarding 2-1 home victory over Juventud Unida in Argentine Group C, with a strong first-half display proving just enough to withstand a determined second-half fightback.

Match Overview

Playing in front of their own supporters, Estrella del Sur Alejandro Korn set the tone immediately. They pressed high, moved the ball quickly and made the pitch feel small for their opponents, who struggled to establish any rhythm in the opening half-hour. Two goals arrived in that period of dominance, and the platform was built.

Juventud Unida, to their credit, refused to fold. They reorganised at the interval, pushed their wingers higher and gradually dragged themselves back into the contest, scoring once and threatening an equaliser deep into the closing stages.

Key Moments

• First goal: A slick passing move down the right ended with a first-time finish to open the scoring.
• Second goal: Estrella del Sur doubled the lead with a header from a corner, catching the visiting defence flat-footed.
• Lifeline: Juventud Unida halved the deficit with a well-struck effort from just outside the box after the restart.
• Big save: The home goalkeeper produced a superb one-handed stop to deny a close-range equaliser.
• Final minutes: Juventud Unida threw everything forward, but Estrella del Sur cleared a series of late crosses to secure the win.

Tactical Story

Estrella del Sur's success came from their aggressive, front-foot approach. By winning the ball in the opposition half, they denied Juventud Unida the chance to build patiently and created repeated scoring opportunities in transition. The two-goal cushion allowed them to dictate the tempo, and their set-piece delivery was a constant threat.

Juventud Unida's second-half improvement owed much to a shift in formation, with an extra midfielder introduced to contest the second balls they had been losing. It changed the territorial picture, but by then the hosts had something to protect — and protect it they did.

Standout Players

Estrella del Sur's attacking midfielder was the game's most influential player, involved in both goals and consistently finding space between the lines. Their goalkeeper made the decisive save of the match. Juventud Unida's substitute made a real impact, injecting pace and directness that almost rescued a point, while their centre-forward worked tirelessly without reward.

Season Impact

Home victories in Group C build momentum and belief, and this one keeps Estrella del Sur Alejandro Korn firmly in the conversation within their section of the table. For Juventud Unida, the defeat is a harsh reminder that slow starts are punished at this level, though their second-half response offers genuine encouragement for the fixtures ahead.

What's Next

Estrella del Sur will aim to make their home ground a fortress, while Juventud Unida will target a fast start in their next outing.
