Sportivo Dock Sud 0-3 Deportivo Armenio: Clinical Armenio Cruise to Away Win

Deportivo Armenio produced one of the most convincing away performances of the Argentine Group B season so far, defeating Sportivo Dock Sud 3-0 on October 4, 2026. The visitors were sharper in both boxes, more efficient in possession and ruthless on the counter-attack, leaving Dock Sud with few answers after a difficult night.

Match Overview

Sportivo Dock Sud began the match with plenty of energy, but their early pressing was undone in the 12th minute when Matías Sosa pounced on a defensive error and finished calmly past the goalkeeper. That goal settled Deportivo Armenio and forced Dock Sud to chase the game, which only created more space for the visitors to exploit.

The second half was a masterclass in game management. Armenio sat in a compact mid-block, invited Dock Sud forward and then broke at speed. Lucas Villalba made it 2-0 in the 58th minute with a low drive from the edge of the box, before Gonzalo Cañete added a third in the 84th minute after a sweeping team move.

Key Moments

• 12th minute: Matías Sosa capitalises on a defensive mistake to give Deportivo Armenio the lead.
• 38th minute: Sportivo Dock Sud force a fine save from the Armenio goalkeeper, their best chance of the first half.
• 58th minute: Lucas Villalba doubles the advantage with a precise strike from outside the area.
• 84th minute: Gonzalo Cañete seals the win after a rapid counter-attack.

Tactical Story

Deportivo Armenio set up in a flexible 4-3-3 that became a 4-5-1 without the ball. Their midfield pressed in coordinated bursts, cutting off central passing lanes and forcing Dock Sud into hopeful long balls. Once they won possession, they moved the ball forward quickly, targeting the space behind Dock Sud’s advanced full-backs.

Sportivo Dock Sud struggled to find rhythm. Their build-up was too slow, and their front line was often isolated against three Armenio defenders. When they did create chances, the final pass or finish was lacking. It was a night that underlined the importance of efficiency in a league where goals are often hard to come by.

Standout Players

Matías Sosa was the game’s decisive figure, setting the tone with his early goal and constantly troubling the Dock Sud back line. Lucas Villalba controlled the tempo in midfield and added a goal of his own, while Gonzalo Cañete’s late strike capped a complete team performance. For Dock Sud, the goalkeeper prevented an even heavier defeat with several strong saves.

Table and Season Impact

The three points lift Deportivo Armenio into a stronger position in the Argentine Group B standings and provide a significant boost to their goal difference. Sportivo Dock Sud, meanwhile, will need to regroup quickly, as consecutive dropped points can quickly become a problem in such a competitive division. The result also serves as a warning to other promotion contenders: Armenio are dangerous when given space to counter.
