Match overview

Chances were at a premium for long spells, but Deportivo Laferrere’s patience paid off when they broke the deadlock midway through the first half. Comunicaciones BsAs responded with more possession after the break but struggled to create clear openings against a well-organised home back line. The closing stages brought pressure, but Laferrere held firm.

Tactical story

Laferrere set up with a compact 4-4-2 and looked to defend the central areas, forcing Comunicaciones wide. The home side’s goal came from a set piece, a theme that has become important in their campaign. Comunicaciones dictated possession in the second half but lacked penetration, and their crosses were dealt with comfortably by Laferrere’s centre-backs.

Standout performers

Laferrere’s goalkeeper was the standout, making two important saves and commanding his box in the final minutes. The goalscorer deserves credit for being in the right place at the right time, while Comunicaciones’ deep-lying midfielder tried to orchestrate play but was often isolated.

Season impact

The narrow victory strengthens Laferrere’s position in the Argentine Group B standings and highlights their ability to win low-scoring games. Comunicaciones BsAs will rue their lack of cutting edge, but their possession numbers offer a platform to build on as they look to climb the table.
