Tactical story

Camioneros’ direct approach and set-piece threat caused Merlo problems all afternoon. Their midfield won most of the second balls, allowing them to sustain attacks and pin the visitors back. Merlo’s response was impressive, shifting to a more compact shape and using wide runners to stretch the game. For a while, it looked like the away side had done enough to earn a draw, but Camioneros’ late surge proved decisive.

Standout performers

Lucas Ferreyra was influential for Camioneros, linking play and driving forward from midfield, while Nicolás Benítez’s movement created space for the opening goal. For Merlo, Franco Giménez was at the heart of the comeback with a goal and an assist. The difference in the end was Camioneros’ ability to keep creating chances after conceding the equaliser.

What it means

The win strengthens Deportivo Camioneros’ position in the Argentine Group B standings and underlines their ability to respond under pressure. Argentino de Merlo leave with nothing despite a brave second-half display, a result that could hurt their own hopes of climbing the table. In a division where fine margins decide promotion bids, the late winner may prove more than just a single moment.
