Defensa y Justicia Reserves 2-1 Tigre Reserves: Home Side Completes Second-Half Comeback

Defensa y Justicia Reserves produced a strong second-half comeback to beat Tigre Reserves 2-1 in the Argentine Reserve League. After falling behind early, the home side controlled the tempo after the break and scored twice to secure a hard-fought three points.

Match Overview

Tigre started brightly and took the lead inside the first twenty minutes, catching Defensa y Justicia with a quick attacking move. The visitors looked confident in possession and created a few half-chances, but Defensa gradually settled and began to impose their own game through midfield. By the end of the first half, the home side had established a foothold without finding an equalizer.

The second half was a different story. Defensa y Justicia raised their pressing intensity, moved the ball faster, and forced Tigre deeper. The equalizer arrived after sustained pressure, and the winner followed later as the home side’s persistence paid off. Tigre tried to respond but struggled to regain the momentum they had shown early on.

Key Moments

• 18' – 0-1: Matías Sosa gave Tigre the lead with a well-placed shot after a flowing move through the middle.
• 56' – 1-1: Tomás Escobar equalized for Defensa y Justicia, finishing neatly after a recycled corner fell to him at the edge of the box.
• 79' – 2-1: Julián Cáceres completed the comeback, heading in a precise cross from the left flank.

Tactical Story

Defensa y Justicia’s manager adjusted the midfield at half-time, pushing one player higher to support the striker and closing the passing lanes that Tigre had used so effectively early on. That change allowed the home side to pin Tigre back and create repeated entries into the final third. The wide players also became more aggressive, delivering crosses with greater frequency.

Tigre’s defensive line dropped deeper as the game wore on, and their attempts to counter-attack lacked support. Defensa’s winning goal came from exactly the kind of wide overload they had been building: a quick switch of play, a driving run, and a measured cross for Cáceres to attack.

Standout Players

Tomás Escobar’s equalizer was the turning point, and his energy in midfield set the tone for the comeback. Julián Cáceres was a constant aerial threat and took his winning goal well. For Tigre, Matías Sosa was the brightest attacking player, while their goalkeeper made several saves to keep the match close until the closing stages.

What It Means

Defensa y Justicia Reserves earn a morale-boosting home win after coming from behind, a result that highlights the squad’s resilience and tactical flexibility. Tigre Reserves will be disappointed to let their early lead slip, but there were positives in their first-half display. In the Argentine Reserve League, where consistency is often difficult, this is a significant three points for the home side.
