Estrella del Sur Reserves came from behind to win 2-1 away at Central Ballester Reserves in the Argentine Reserve League on 13 October 2026, producing a composed second-half display that turned the match on its head. Central Ballester had taken the lead, but the visitors' response after the interval was emphatic and thoroughly deserved.

Match Overview

Reserve team football in Argentina is often about development as much as results, and this fixture showcased exactly that — two young sides playing with ambition, tempo, and no shortage of technical quality. Central Ballester started the brighter, using their home advantage to press aggressively and force errors in the Estrella del Sur build-up.

Estrella del Sur weathered that early storm, grew into the contest, and eventually took control. The final scoreline of 2-1 reflected a game in which the away side created the clearer opportunities across the full ninety minutes.

Key Moments

• Central Ballester take the lead: The hosts capitalised on a high turnover, moving the ball quickly into the box and finishing with confidence to make it 1-0.
• The equaliser: Estrella del Sur responded before the interval, levelling with a well-placed effort after a sustained period of possession.
• The winner: Early in the second half, a fluent passing move cut through the Central Ballester defence and was finished clinically at the near post.
• The rearguard: Central Ballester pushed for a leveller in the closing stages, but Estrella del Sur's centre-backs and goalkeeper stood firm.

Tactical Story

Central Ballester's game plan was built around intensity without the ball, and it worked well for the opening twenty minutes. Their high press disrupted Estrella del Sur's attempts to play out from the back and created the turnover that led to the opening goal.

The adjustment came from the away side's midfield, which began dropping deeper to offer easier passing options and drag the press out of shape. Once Estrella del Sur started beating the first line of pressure consistently, the game tilted in their favour. Their rotations in wide areas created two-on-one situations that Central Ballester struggled to defend, and both goals came from that exact pattern.

Standout Performers

The Estrella del Sur attacking midfielders were the standout performers, linking play intelligently between the lines and providing the final pass on both goals. Their striker's movement was relentless, occupying defenders and creating room for others. Central Ballester's brightest moments came from their energetic young winger, who was a constant threat on the counter-attack.

What It Means

For Estrella del Sur Reserves, this is the kind of away performance that builds belief. Coming from behind to win shows character, and the coaching staff will be particularly pleased with the tactical flexibility the players displayed after a difficult opening spell.

Central Ballester Reserves will take lessons from the defeat. Their early intensity was excellent, but sustaining that level across ninety minutes is the challenge for a developing squad. The result keeps the Argentine Reserve League campaign competitive, with plenty still to be decided as the season progresses.
