Canuelas FC Reserves 1-3 Leones de Rosario Reserve: Visitors Come Back to Win Argentine Reserve League Clash

Leones de Rosario Reserve produced a strong second-half comeback to beat Canuelas FC Reserves 3-1 in the Argentine Reserve League on Thursday. The visitors recovered from an early deficit to claim all three points with a clinical display of counter-attacking football.

Match Overview

Canuelas started brightly and took the lead in the 12th minute when a deflected shot looped over the goalkeeper. The home side, playing at their compact training ground venue, tried to build on that advantage with a high press. But Leones de Rosario gradually took control, equalising in the 38th minute with a low drive from the edge of the box.

The second half was one-way traffic. Leones scored twice in a ten-minute spell to turn the game around, and Canuelas never recovered. The 3-1 scoreline reflected the visitors' superior fitness and sharper finishing.

Tactical Story

Canuelas set up in a 4-4-2 and tried to press high, but their midfield was overrun in transition. Leones de Rosario, using a 4-2-3-1, sat deeper and invited pressure before hitting on the break with pace. Their front four interchanged constantly, making them difficult to mark.

The key battle was in midfield, where Leones' double pivot won second balls and launched attacks. Canuelas' full-backs pushed forward but left space behind, which Leones exploited ruthlessly. The third goal, from a corner, was a consequence of Canuelas' growing frustration.

Standout Players

The Leones striker scored twice and was a constant menace with his movement. Their right-winger provided two assists, while the center-back won everything in the air. For Canuelas, the goalkeeper kept the score down with several saves, and the young forward who scored showed promise despite limited service.

Season Impact

This 3-1 victory lifts Leones de Rosario Reserve up the Argentine Reserve League standings and continues their impressive away record. For Canuelas FC Reserves, it is a missed opportunity to gain ground on the teams above them. The reserve league is all about development, and both sides will take lessons from a match that was decided by transitions and set-pieces. Leones now look ahead to a home fixture, while Canuelas must regroup quickly for their next test.
