Belgrano Reserves 0-2 Estudiantes LP Reserves gave Estudiantes de La Plata Reserves a composed away victory in the Argentine Reserve League, with a clean sheet and two well-timed goals securing the points.

A professional away performance

Estudiantes LP Reserves controlled long stretches of the match without needing to dominate possession entirely. The visitors defended with organisation, pressed at the right moments and took advantage of the spaces that appeared when Belgrano Reserves pushed forward. Their first goal arrived after a patient build-up, and the second followed in the second half as Belgrano chased a route back into the game.

Belgrano Reserves had spells of pressure, especially after falling behind, but they struggled to find a finishing touch against a compact and disciplined Estudiantes defence. The home side’s best chances came from set pieces and crosses, yet the visiting goalkeeper was well protected and rarely forced into desperate action.

Key moments

• Estudiantes’ opener: A controlled attacking move gave the visitors the lead and settled their approach.
• Belgrano’s response: The home side increased the tempo and forced several corners, but could not convert.
• The second goal: Estudiantes doubled the advantage after the break, punishing Belgrano as they committed more players forward.
• Clean-sheet defending: The visitors dealt with late crosses and second balls to protect their two-goal cushion.

Tactical story: shape, patience and counter-attacking

Estudiantes LP Reserves set up with a compact midfield and looked to deny Belgrano space between the lines. Their defensive discipline was evident in the way they tracked runners and protected the central corridor. Once they won possession, they moved the ball quickly into wide areas and attacked with purpose.

Belgrano Reserves tried to respond by pushing their full-backs higher and committing more bodies into the box, but that left them exposed to counters. Estudiantes’ second goal was a clear example of that pattern: a quick regain, a direct forward pass and a finish that reflected the visitors’ greater efficiency in the final third.

Standout performers

Estudiantes’ central defenders were influential throughout, winning aerial duels and reading danger early. The midfield also played a key role in balancing defensive cover with forward support. For Belgrano, the goalkeeper made several saves to keep the scoreline respectable, while the team’s attackers showed willingness but lacked the final connection in the decisive areas.

What the result means in the Argentine Reserve League

The win gives Estudiantes LP Reserves momentum in the Argentine Reserve League and highlights the value of defensive solidity in reserve-team football. Belgrano Reserves will take lessons from the game, particularly around managing transitions when chasing a result. In a development-focused competition, the result is only part of the story, but Estudiantes’ organisation and finishing made them deserving winners.
