San Martin San Juan and Temperley played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw in the Argentine Primera Nacional on October 19, 2026, at the Estadio Ingeniero Hilario Sánchez. In a match short on clear-cut chances but high on intensity, both sides had to settle for a point that keeps them in the crowded race for promotion play-off places.

Match Overview

Temperley started brightly and took the lead against the run of play with a well-executed counter-attack midway through the first half. San Martin responded well, dominating possession and forcing a series of corners before eventually finding an equaliser after the break. The final half-hour was tense and scrappy, with both teams wary of conceding a decisive second goal.

Key Moments

• 22nd minute: Temperley went ahead when a quick break down the right ended with a low cross that was converted at the back post.
• 41st minute: San Martin’s best chance of the first half fell to their striker, but a last-ditch block kept the visitors ahead.
• 67th minute: The hosts equalised through a header from a corner, rewarding their sustained pressure after the restart.
• 82nd minute: Temperley goalkeeper produced a superb save to deny San Martin a late winner.

Tactical Story

San Martin controlled the ball for long spells, using their midfield to dictate play and push Temperley deep. However, they struggled to break down a compact defensive block and often had to resort to crosses from wide areas. Temperley were disciplined defensively and dangerous on the break, and their game plan nearly delivered all three points. The home side’s decision to introduce fresh legs in attack improved their intensity, but they lacked the final touch to find a winner.

Standout Players

San Martin’s central midfielder was the heartbeat of his team, constantly recycling possession and driving forward. The goalkeeper at the other end earned his side a point with a crucial late stop. Temperley’s forward line worked tirelessly, and their ability to hold the ball up under pressure was key to relieving spells of sustained pressure.

Season Impact

The draw leaves both teams in the mix for the Primera Nacional play-off places, though neither will be entirely satisfied. San Martin remain difficult to beat at home, while Temperley continue to show resilience on the road. With the table tightly packed, every point could prove crucial come the end of the season.
