Defensores Belgrano (VR) 0-1 Sportivo Las Parejas was a tight, physical ARFC contest settled by a single second-half goal on 18 October 2026. Sportivo Las Parejas produced a disciplined away performance, defended their lead with conviction, and left Villa Ramallo with three important points.

Match overview

Defensores Belgrano (VR) had more of the ball in the opening hour and tried to build pressure through the midfield, but Sportivo Las Parejas stayed compact and limited clear sights of goal. The visitors were content to defend in numbers, win the second balls, and attack through quick transitions. That game plan paid off when they scored in the second half.

After taking the lead, Sportivo Las Parejas dropped deeper and protected their box with real determination. Defensores pushed more players forward in response, but the visitors’ goalkeeper and centre-backs dealt with the late deliveries. The home side ran out of ideas in the final third, and Sportivo saw out a valuable away win.

Key moments

• 22nd minute – Defensores’ first chance: A shot from the edge of the box forced Facundo Ríos into a solid low save.

Tactical story

Defensores Belgrano (VR) tried to control the game through possession, but Sportivo Las Parejas’s compact midfield made it difficult for them to find rhythm. The visitors sat in a narrow block, forced play wide, and were aggressive in the tackle. Their plan was clear: stay organized, defend set pieces, and take advantage of any space on the counter.

The decisive moment came from a set piece, which reflected the nature of the contest. Defensores had territory but not enough penetration, while Sportivo’s willingness to defend their box and compete for every loose ball gave them the edge. In the final 15 minutes, the home side increased the tempo, but Sportivo’s back line stayed calm and cleared their lines efficiently.

Standout performers

Facundo Ríos was excellent in the Sportivo Las Parejas goal, making two important saves and handling crosses confidently. Nicolás Aguirre’s late block summed up the visitors’ defensive commitment, while Lucas Benítez delivered the match-winning goal and worked tirelessly on the counter. For Defensores, Tomás Herrera tried to drive the team forward from midfield, but the home side lacked a decisive final pass.

Season impact and standings

The three points give Sportivo Las Parejas a valuable boost in the ARFC standings and reward their disciplined away approach. Winning on the road in such a tight contest can be a turning point in a regional campaign, especially when the margins are so small. Defensores Belgrano (VR), meanwhile, will be disappointed to drop points at home and will need to find more creativity in the final third in their next fixtures.

The result was a reminder of how important organization and set-piece defending can be in the ARFC. Sportivo Las Parejas did not dominate the ball, but they controlled the decisive moments and left with a clean sheet and a hard-earned victory.
