CDA Monte Miaz and Kimberley Mar del Plata shared the points after a hard-fought 0-0 draw in the ARFC. The match was short on goals but not on tension, with both teams creating enough half-chances to suggest a breakthrough could arrive, only for defensive discipline and some sharp goalkeeping to keep the scoreline level.

Match overview

CDA Monte Miaz approached the game with a compact shape, looking to deny Kimberley Mar del Plata space in midfield and then hit on the counter. Kimberley Mar del Plata saw more of the ball in the opening phases and tried to stretch the home side with passes into wide areas, but Monte Miaz’s back line held its line well and dealt with crosses efficiently.

The contest became more open after the interval. Monte Miaz pushed higher up the pitch and forced several set pieces, while Kimberley Mar del Plata continued to probe through the middle. Neither goalkeeper was overworked, but both were called into action at important moments, particularly as the game entered its final quarter.

Key moments

• Kimberley Mar del Plata’s first clear sight of goal came from a low drive outside the box, which was pushed away by the Monte Miaz goalkeeper.
• CDA Monte Miaz responded with a header from a corner that flashed across the face of goal and narrowly missed the target.
• Early in the second half, Kimberley Mar del Plata appealed for a penalty after a challenge inside the area, but the referee waved play on.
• Monte Miaz’s best move of the match ended with a shot from the edge of the box that was blocked by a last-ditch defensive intervention.
• In the closing minutes, Kimberley Mar del Plata sent a free-kick just over the crossbar as both sides searched for a late winner.

Tactical story

The game was shaped by the battle in midfield. Kimberley Mar del Plata tried to dictate tempo with patient circulation, drawing Monte Miaz out before looking for runners in behind. CDA Monte Miaz were content to defend in a mid-block and attack quickly once possession was won, often targeting the channels on either side of Kimberley’s centre-backs.

Both defences handled the key moments well. Monte Miaz’s goalkeeper was decisive in coming off his line to claim crosses, while Kimberley Mar del Plata’s centre-backs stayed alert to the counter-attack and made several important clearances. The match lacked a decisive final pass, but the tactical battle remained absorbing throughout.

Standout performers

CDA Monte Miaz’s goalkeeper was one of the key figures, producing a composed display and making the saves required to protect the clean sheet. The Monte Miaz midfield also worked tirelessly to close down space and launch breaks. For Kimberley Mar del Plata, the central defender was excellent in duels and covered well when Monte Miaz broke forward, while the attacking midfielder offered the visitors’ most creative moments with precise passing and dangerous set-piece delivery.

What the result means

The draw adds a point to both teams’ ARFC standings and leaves each side with mixed feelings. CDA Monte Miaz will take confidence from another resilient defensive performance and a clean sheet on home soil, but will know that better decision-making in the final third could have turned one point into three. Kimberley Mar del Plata will be pleased with their control for long spells but frustrated by the lack of a finishing touch. As the ARFC campaign continues, both teams will view this result as a platform rather than a final statement.
