Argentino Mendoza and Deportivo Malargue produced one of the most entertaining scorelines of the ARFC campaign as the home side claimed a 5-3 victory in a match that swung from controlled dominance to chaotic end-to-end football. Eight goals, a handful of momentum shifts, and a late finish made this a compelling contest from start to finish, with Argentino Mendoza ultimately doing enough to secure all three points.

Match overview

Argentino Mendoza set the tone early, pressing high and forcing Deportivo Malargue into mistakes in their own half. The home side looked sharper in possession and more aggressive in the duels, and that intensity translated into a lead. Deportivo Malargue responded well after falling behind, finding space between the lines and pulling a goal back, but Argentino Mendoza restored control before the interval and carried a deserved advantage into the second half.

The second period was far less controlled. Deportivo Malargue pushed more bodies forward, and the game opened up dramatically. Argentino Mendoza’s attacking quality proved decisive, but their defensive vulnerability kept the visitors alive until the closing stages.

Key moments

The opening goal came after a sustained spell of home pressure, with Argentino Mendoza working the ball into a dangerous area and finishing with composure. The lead was doubled soon after, and for a brief period it looked as though the home side might pull away. Deportivo Malargue, however, showed resilience and halved the deficit with a well-worked move that exposed space in the Argentine Mendoza defence.

Just when the visitors threatened to build momentum, Argentino Mendoza struck again to restore a two-goal cushion before half-time. The second half followed a similar pattern: Deportivo Malargue scored to make it 3-2, only for Argentino Mendoza to reply and move 4-2 ahead. A third goal for the visitors set up a tense finish, but the home side sealed the win with a late fifth goal.

Tactical story

Argentino Mendoza’s win was built on attacking ambition and quick transitions. Their midfield won the ball back in useful areas and their forward line attacked with purpose, especially when Deportivo Malargue committed numbers forward. The home side’s ability to respond immediately after conceding was the most impressive aspect of their performance; each time the visitors scored, Argentino Mendoza found another gear.

Deportivo Malargue, meanwhile, contributed to the spectacle with their attacking intent but were punished for leaving too much space behind their midfield. Their goals showed that they can hurt opponents when they move the ball quickly, yet the defensive structure was too loose to withstand Argentino Mendoza’s repeated surges. In a match with eight goals, the decisive difference was the home side’s greater efficiency in the final third.

Standout performers

• Argentino Mendoza forward line: Combined well, stretched the defence, and converted the key chances in a high-scoring contest.
• Argentino Mendoza midfield: Set the tempo and repeatedly turned possession into quick attacks.
• Deportivo Malargue attackers: Scored three times and kept the game alive, showing real threat on the break.
• Argentino Mendoza goalkeeper: Made important saves in the second half when the match threatened to become a complete shootout.

Season impact

The 5-3 win gives Argentino Mendoza a valuable three points and a confidence boost, especially given the attacking fluency they showed. Conceding three goals at home will give the coaching staff something to address, but the result is exactly what the table demands: maximum points from a fixture that could easily have slipped away.

For Deportivo Malargue, the defeat is a reminder that scoring three away from home should normally be enough to earn something from a match. The attacking performance was encouraging, but the defensive lapses proved costly. Both teams now turn their attention to the next round of ARFC fixtures, with Argentino Mendoza looking to build momentum and Deportivo Malargue aiming to tighten up without losing their attacking edge.
