USM Annaba 3-0 US Chaouia — a dominant, professional performance in the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 2 on 9 October 2026 gave USM Annaba a convincing home victory and a welcome boost to their promotion ambitions.

Comfortable night in Annaba

USM Annaba have long been one of the most passionately supported clubs outside the Algerian top flight, and their supporters were treated to a performance worthy of that backing. Three unanswered goals, a clean sheet and total control of the midfield made this one of the club's most satisfying displays of the campaign.

US Chaouia arrived with a plan to defend in numbers and hit on the counter, but they were undone by the sheer intensity of Annaba's pressing and the quality of the home side's movement in the final third.

Match overview

The home side took the initiative from the first whistle, pinning US Chaouia inside their own half and forcing a string of corners and half-chances. The opening goal came after a period of sustained possession, a move that started in midfield and finished with a composed strike from the edge of the area.

Rather than retreat, Annaba pushed for a second, and they got it before the interval. By the time the players walked off at half-time, the shape of the match was already clear: one team was chasing the game, and the other was controlling it.

Key moments

• Opening goal: A patient build-up rewarded with a low finish that broke US Chaouia's resistance.
• Second before the break: Arguably the decisive moment — the visitors had just begun to settle before Annaba doubled the lead.
• Third goal after the restart: A quick transition punished US Chaouia for committing men forward in search of a route back into the game.
• The clean sheet: A disciplined defensive display ensured there would be no late nerves.

Tactical story

USM Annaba's dominance came from midfield. Their central players were sharper to every loose ball, and their ability to switch play from flank to flank stretched US Chaouia's defensive block until gaps appeared. The full-backs pushed high, effectively making the pitch narrow for the visitors and forcing errors in dangerous areas.

US Chaouia's biggest issue was their inability to keep possession long enough to relieve pressure. Their forwards were starved of service, and every clearance was recycled straight back into their defensive third. When they did manage to break, their attacks lacked the numbers to be genuinely threatening.

Standout performers

The Annaba attack was sharp and unselfish, with the front players rotating positions and pulling defenders out of shape all evening. The midfield anchor was arguably the best player on the pitch, breaking up play and launching attacks with equal authority, while the goalkeeper's clean sheet was earned through alert positioning rather than spectacular saves.

For US Chaouia, the goalkeeper kept the scoreline from becoming embarrassing, and their most advanced player showed flashes of quality on the few occasions his teammates managed to find him.

What it means for the table

A three-goal win and a shutout is exactly the kind of result that lifts a squad in the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 2, where consistency is often the difference between challenging for promotion and drifting into mid-table. USM Annaba's home record continues to look like a major asset.

US Chaouia leave with work to do. Defeats of this nature can be damaging, but the schedule offers them a chance to respond quickly. Annaba, meanwhile, will be eager to build on a performance that showcased their attacking potential.

On the balance of play, the scoreline was a fair reflection of the night: one team in control from start to finish, and one left searching for answers.
