MO Constantine 1-0 JS Azazga: Narrow Win Boosts Home Push in Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 2

MO Constantine secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over JS Azazga in the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 2 on 14 October 2026, with a single goal proving enough to separate the sides after a tense and physical encounter. The win adds valuable momentum to Constantine's campaign and leaves Azazga frustrated after a disciplined away display.

The match was decided by a moment of quality in the final third, but it was built on Constantine's control of midfield and their ability to limit Azazga's counter-attacks. In a league where away points are precious, the hosts did enough to protect their lead and claim the three points.

Match Overview

Constantine started with intent, pressing Azazga's defenders and forcing them into long clearances. The home side's midfield won the battle for second balls, and their wingers found space in behind. The breakthrough came in the first half, when a quick passing move opened up the defence and a low shot found the bottom corner.

Azazga responded with a more compact shape after the goal, looking to frustrate Constantine and hit on the break. They had spells of possession but struggled to create clear chances. Constantine's goalkeeper was called into action once or twice but was largely protected by a well-organized back four. The second half became a test of game management, and Constantine passed it without too many scares.

Key Moments

• Opening goal: Constantine's best move of the first half ended with a precise finish, rewarding their early pressure.
• Azazga's response: A free-kick forced a save from the Constantine goalkeeper as the visitors pushed for an equaliser before half-time.
• Second-half chance: Azazga's striker found space in the box but headed over from a good crossing position.
• Late blocks: Constantine's defenders threw themselves in front of shots in the final minutes to preserve the clean sheet.

Tactical Story

Constantine set up to dominate the ball and played with two holding midfielders who screened the back four. Their full-backs were adventurous, but they were careful to avoid being caught out by Azazga's pace on the wings. The goal came from exactly the kind of patient build-up the coach wanted: switching play, drawing defenders out, and attacking the space.

Azazga's game plan was based on resilience and counter-attacking. They defended in a narrow block and tried to launch quick breaks through their forwards. It worked in patches, but the final pass was often delayed. Constantine's ability to slow the game down in the second half was crucial, and their experience showed in the closing stages.

Standout Performers

Constantine's goalscorer will take the headlines, but the midfield anchor was arguably the best player on the pitch, breaking up attacks and keeping possession. The centre-backs were commanding in the air, and the goalkeeper handled crosses confidently. For Azazga, the captain led by example in midfield, and the goalkeeper made several saves to keep his team within touching distance.

What It Means

The three points lift MO Constantine in the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 2 table and reinforce their home form, which could be decisive in the race for promotion. JS Azazga remain in search of consistency away from home; they showed enough defensive organization to suggest they will pick up points, but they need more cutting edge in the final third.

With the season still developing, this result will be remembered as a gritty rather than glamorous win. Constantine did the fundamentals well: they scored first, defended their box, and managed the clock. In a competitive second division, that is often the recipe for success.
