JS Jijel 0-0 CR Beni Thour — an Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 2 fixture that promised much ended in a goalless draw, as two well-drilled defences held firm through a tense and often scrappy ninety minutes.

Match Overview

JS Jijel came into this game backed by their home support and eager to make the most of familiar surroundings, while CR Beni Thour travelled with the reputation of a side that is difficult to break down. The opening exchanges confirmed that reputation: the visitors defended in numbers, closed down the wide channels and invited their hosts to try to find a way through the middle, where the space was minimal.

Jijel controlled the bulk of possession in the first half and worked the ball from side to side in an attempt to unbalance the block, but their crossing was repeatedly repelled by a resilient defensive line. Whenever the home side did find a shooting angle, the shots came from distance and rarely troubled the goalkeeper.

Key Moments

• 15th minute: JS Jijel's first meaningful effort, a long-range strike that dipped just over the bar.
• 33rd minute: CR Beni Thour's best chance of the half, a breakaway that ended with a shot deflected behind for a corner.
• 49th minute: A goalmouth scramble at the Beni Thour end produced three blocks before the ball was cleared.
• 64th minute: The visitors' goalkeeper produced a fine fingertip save from a curling free kick.
• 79th minute: A Jijel header from a corner beat the keeper but was cleared off the line by a covering defender.
• 90+2 minutes: CR Beni Thour wasted a promising counter-attack with a heavy final touch, and the match finished level.

Tactical Story

This was a classic contest between patience and resilience. JS Jijel's approach was built on patient build-up play and overloads in wide areas, aiming to pull the Beni Thour back line out of shape before delivering crosses into the box. CR Beni Thour, by contrast, defended narrow and deep, conceding possession in harmless areas and trusting their pace on the counter-attack.

The plan worked. Jijel's attacking players found themselves crowded out whenever they received the ball between the lines, and their most dangerous moments came from set pieces rather than open play. Beni Thour's attacking threat was sporadic but genuine, and only a lack of composure in the final third prevented them from stealing all three points.

Standout Performers

The CR Beni Thour goalkeeper was the most influential figure on the pitch, making two decisive saves and dominating his penalty area with authority. Their central defenders were equally impressive, reading the game well and winning everything in the air. For JS Jijel, the deep-lying midfielder dictated play intelligently throughout, and the substitute introduced in the second half added genuine urgency to the attack.

Ligue Professionnelle 2 Table Impact

In the tightly packed Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 2 standings, a single point can carry real weight, and both clubs will view this result through that lens. JS Jijel maintain their strong home form and remain hard to beat on their own ground, though they will be frustrated by another match in which territorial dominance failed to produce a goal.

CR Beni Thour, meanwhile, extend their reputation as one of the toughest defensive sides in the division and take an away point back with them. The result leaves both teams in a competitive position, with the promotion race and the relegation battle both liable to shift quickly as the campaign unfolds. On this evidence, both will remain difficult opponents for anyone in the league — provided they can add goals to their defensive solidity.
