KF Tirana 2-2 KS Elbasani: Four-Goal Thriller in Albanian Super League

KF Tirana and KS Elbasani shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw on 20 September 2026, producing one of the most entertaining matches of the Albanian Super League round. The capital club twice held the lead, but Elbasani showed impressive resilience to fight back and claim a point.

Tirana started brightly, controlling possession and pushing Elbasani deep into their own half. The opening goal arrived after a sustained spell of pressure, with a well-worked move down the left ending in a finish at the near post. The home crowd expected Tirana to kick on, but Elbasani responded almost immediately. A quick counter-attack caught Tirana's defence out of shape, and a low shot levelled the score.

Twice ahead, twice pegged back

Tirana regained the lead before half-time. A clever pass between the lines released a runner into the box, and the forward rounded the goalkeeper before tapping into an empty net. At 2-1, Tirana looked in control, but Elbasani refused to fold. Their equaliser came in the second half from a set piece, a delivery that caused confusion in the box and was eventually forced over the line.

The final 20 minutes were frantic. Tirana pushed for a winner, with shots from distance and crosses into the area, while Elbasani threatened on the break. Both goalkeepers made crucial saves, and a late penalty appeal was waved away. When the final whistle blew, the draw felt like a fair reflection of a game that swung both ways.

Tactical story

Tirana's approach was based on possession and patient build-up, using their full-backs to create overloads. Elbasani were more compact and direct, happy to soak up pressure and spring forward with pace. That tactical battle defined the match: Tirana had more of the ball, but Elbasani were dangerous every time they won it back.

The result leaves both sides with mixed feelings. Tirana will rue missed chances and defensive lapses, while Elbasani can take confidence from twice coming from behind away from home.

Standout performers

• Tirana's attacking midfield: Created chances and linked play intelligently.
• Elbasani's counter-attacking forwards: Pace and direct running caused problems all night.
• Both goalkeepers: Made important saves in a frantic closing period.
• Elbasani's defensive unit: Held firm under late pressure to secure the draw.

What it means for the Albanian Super League table

The point keeps KF Tirana in the hunt at the top end of the table, but dropping two points at home may feel costly in a title race. For KS Elbasani, the draw adds to their reputation as a tough, organised side capable of taking points from the biggest clubs. In a league where margins are tight, this 2-2 result could be remembered as an important stepping stone for both teams.
