KF Tirana secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over KF Laci in the Albanian Super League, with a single second-half goal deciding a tense encounter at the Selman Stermasi Stadium.

The win strengthens Tirana’s position in the title race and extends their strong home record. Laci, meanwhile, left with frustration after producing a disciplined defensive display for long spells but failing to find a response once the deadlock was broken.

Match overview

Tirana controlled much of the possession but found Laci difficult to break down. The visitors sat deep, limited space between the lines and forced Tirana to play around them rather than through them. The first half was short on clear chances, with Tirana’s best efforts coming from distance and from a series of corners that Laci defended with determination.

Key moments

The decisive moment came shortly after the hour mark. Tirana worked the ball into the final third, and a clever exchange opened space on the edge of the box. The resulting shot was struck low and hard, beating the Laci goalkeeper and sending the home supporters into celebration.

Laci responded by pushing men forward, but Tirana’s back line held firm. The visitors’ best chance arrived late in the game from a set-piece, but a strong save preserved the clean sheet. Tirana managed the closing stages intelligently, keeping possession in wide areas and drawing fouls to run down the clock.

Tactical story

Tirana’s game plan revolved around patience. Their midfield circulated the ball well and looked to isolate Laci’s defenders in one-on-one situations. The full-backs pushed high, creating overloads on the flanks, and it was from one such wide move that the winning goal originated.

Laci’s approach was more reactive. They defended in a compact block and tried to spring counter-attacks through their quick forwards. The plan worked for long periods, but the visitors lacked the final pass in the attacking third. Once they fell behind, they were forced to open up, which played into Tirana’s hands.

Standout performers

Tirana’s central defender was excellent, winning aerial duels and stepping out to intercept passes. The goalkeeper also deserved credit for a late save that secured all three points. For Laci, the defensive midfielder covered enormous ground and repeatedly broke up Tirana’s rhythm, while their goalkeeper made several smart stops before the goal.

What the win means

Three points keep KF Tirana firmly in the Albanian Super League title conversation. The clean sheet will please the coaching staff, especially against a Laci side known for its counter-attacking threat. For KF Laci, the performance offered encouragement despite the result, but the search for greater cutting edge in away matches continues.
