Skenderbeu Korca underlined their cup pedigree with a commanding 4-1 victory over Naftetari Kucove on 6 October 2026, a performance that combined ruthless finishing with the kind of control expected from one of Albania's most decorated clubs. The hosts were sharper from the first whistle and never really allowed their opponents a route back into the contest.

Match Overview

Skënderbeu, the club from Korçë in south-eastern Albania, have built their modern reputation on disciplined, front-foot football — and this was a textbook example. Facing a Naftëtari Kuçovë side with a proud top-flight history of its own, the hosts took the game to their opponents immediately and were rewarded with a lead they would never surrender.

• Final score: Skenderbeu Korca 4-1 Naftetari Kucove
• Competition: Albanian Cup
• Match date: 6 October 2026, 19:30 kick-off
• Goals: Four for the hosts, one consolation for the visitors

Key Moments and Momentum

The first goal arrived early and immediately settled the pattern of the match. Skënderbeu's pressing forced a turnover high up the pitch, and the ball was moved forward quickly enough that Naftëtari's defenders were still recovering their shape when the shot was taken. The second followed in similar fashion, this time from a set piece that was only partially cleared before being thumped back in.

By the time the third goal went in, the tie had a distinctly one-sided feel. Naftëtari's consolation came during their best spell of the game — a ten-minute window after the break in which they pushed their wingers forward and finally asked questions of the home defence. It was a well-taken goal and a reminder that the visitors carried genuine threat when they committed numbers forward, but Skënderbeu's fourth goal quickly restored order and closed the door.

Tactical Story

Skënderbeu's shape was aggressive and vertical. The midfield pressed as a unit, the full-backs overlapped constantly, and the front three rotated positions to make themselves difficult to mark. That fluidity was the difference between the sides: Naftëtari defended man-to-man, and every switch of position created confusion.

The visitors, for their part, were at their best when they abandoned caution. Their goal came from a direct, fast break rather than patient build-up, and the lesson of the evening is that a low block alone will not survive against a side of Skënderbeu's quality. They will need to be braver in possession if they are to overturn this scoreline.

Standout Performers

The home side's attacking players shared the goals between them, but the most influential figure was the deep-lying midfielder who set the tempo, broke up play, and delivered the passes that turned defence into attack within seconds. Up front, the centre-forward's hold-up play brought others into the game and made the constant rotation possible.

For Naftëtari, the goalkeeper kept the scoreline from becoming heavier with a string of saves in the second half, and their goalscorer produced a moment of genuine quality on an otherwise difficult night.

What It Means for the Cup

A 4-1 home win puts Skënderbeu firmly in control of the tie and sends a clear message about their intentions in the Albanian Cup. For a club with their history of domestic dominance in the 2010s, a deep cup run is a realistic target once again. Naftëtari leave with a mountain to climb, but the goal gives them something tangible to chase and a blueprint for how to hurt their opponents when the two sides meet again.
