LUV Graz Women claimed an impressive 3-1 away win over Grazer AK (W) in the Austrian Frauen Bundesliga 2 on 24 October 2026, turning a tight local derby in their favour with a strong second-half display. The visitors recovered from conceding early and controlled large stretches of the match to secure all three points.

Match overview

The game began at a high tempo, with Grazer AK pressing energetically and looking to impose themselves on their local rivals. That approach paid off when the hosts took the lead, but LUV Graz responded well, equalising before half-time and then taking control after the interval.

The second half was a different story. LUV Graz pressed higher, won more second balls, and created a steady stream of chances. Grazer AK struggled to maintain their early intensity, and the visitors’ superior composure in the final third ultimately made the difference.

Key moments

• 14th minute: Grazer AK opened the scoring through a well-worked move down the left, finished confidently at the near post.
• 39th minute: LUV Graz equalised with a header from a corner, swinging the momentum before the break.
• 57th minute: The visitors took the lead after a quick counter-attack ended with a low finish into the bottom corner.
• 78th minute: LUV Graz sealed the win with a third goal, finishing off a flowing team move.

Tactical story

Grazer AK started with aggression, pressing high and forcing turnovers in midfield. But as the game wore on, their shape became stretched, and LUV Graz began to find space between the lines. The visitors’ midfield trio grew increasingly influential, dictating the tempo and linking defence with attack.

LUV Graz also defended well after taking the lead, dropping into a compact block and limiting Grazer AK’s access to the penalty area. The hosts were forced into wider areas, and their crosses were comfortably dealt with by the visiting centre-backs. It was a mature away performance built on resilience and ruthless finishing.

Standout performers

LUV Graz’s midfield was the engine room of the victory, with one player in particular driving forward at every opportunity and contributing a goal and an assist. The centre-forward also impressed, holding the ball up well and bringing others into play. For Grazer AK, the opening goal was a bright moment, but the hosts will be disappointed with the ease with which they conceded the second and third goals.

Season impact

The win strengthens LUV Graz’s position in the Austrian Frauen Bundesliga 2 and gives them local bragging rights. For Grazer AK, the defeat is a setback, but there were enough positive spells to suggest they can compete. Both sides will now turn their attention to the next round, with LUV Graz looking to build momentum and Grazer AK aiming for a response.
