KP Brno Women produced a commanding home performance in the Zenska Basketbalova Liga on October 7, 2026, defeating Slovanka Women 87-53. The 34-point margin reflected KP Brno’s control on both ends of the floor, as they combined aggressive perimeter defense with efficient inside scoring and never allowed Slovanka to settle into a rhythm.

Match Overview

KP Brno set the tone early, moving the ball sharply and attacking the basket before Slovanka’s defense could rotate. The hosts built a 23-14 lead after the first quarter and then blew the game open in the second period with a decisive run. By halftime, KP Brno led 48-25, and the contest was already firmly in their hands.

• First quarter: KP Brno 23, Slovanka 14
• Second quarter: KP Brno 25, Slovanka 11
• Third quarter: KP Brno 19, Slovanka 16
• Fourth quarter: KP Brno 20, Slovanka 12
• Final score: KP Brno Women 87, Slovanka Women 53

Slovanka showed brief signs of life in the third quarter, but KP Brno answered every mini-run with a stronger response. The home side’s bench also contributed meaningful minutes, helping maintain defensive intensity and keeping the offense flowing even when the starters rested.

Key Moments

The turning point arrived early in the second quarter. Leading 25-16, KP Brno went on a 14-0 surge over a four-minute stretch, forcing Slovanka into three consecutive turnovers and converting them into transition baskets. That run pushed the advantage beyond 20 points and forced Slovanka to call multiple timeouts.

Slovanka briefly cut the deficit after the break, scoring on back-to-back possessions to make it a 19-point game, but KP Brno responded with a 10-2 burst of their own. A corner three and a fast-break layup in the final minute of the third quarter restored complete control, and the final period was played largely with the result beyond doubt.

Tactical Story

KP Brno’s coaching staff emphasized pace and ball movement, and the players executed the game plan almost perfectly. The hosts attacked the paint early, drew help defenders, and then kicked the ball out for open perimeter shots. That inside-out approach produced a balanced scoring line and kept Slovanka’s defense guessing.

Defensively, KP Brno switched aggressively on screens and crowded Slovanka’s primary ball handlers. Slovanka struggled to establish a post presence and often settled for contested jumpers. When they did drive, KP Brno’s help defense arrived quickly, forcing difficult finishes or kick-out passes that led to rushed attempts.

Standout Players

KP Brno had four players finish in double figures, a clear sign of their offensive balance. The starting point guard controlled the tempo with 16 points, 8 assists, and 4 steals, repeatedly breaking Slovanka’s press and finding open teammates in transition. The center added 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 blocks, dominating the paint on both ends.

A versatile forward contributed 13 points and 7 rebounds, while the shooting guard added 12 points on efficient shooting. For Slovanka, the leading scorer finished with 15 points and 7 rebounds, but she received limited support as the team shot below 35% from the field and committed too many live-ball turnovers.

Zenska Basketbalova Liga Standings and Season Impact

The victory gives KP Brno an important boost in the Zenska Basketbalova Liga standings and strengthens their point differential, which can matter deeply in a tightly contested playoff race. It also reinforces their reputation as one of the league’s most difficult home teams to beat.

For Slovanka, the loss is a setback but not a season-defining one. They will need to correct their turnover issues and find more consistent secondary scoring if they are to climb the table. The margin, however, shows the gap they must close against the league’s upper-tier sides.

What’s Next

KP Brno will look to carry this momentum into their next fixture, where another strong defensive performance could solidify their position among the league’s top contenders. Slovanka return home hoping to regroup, protect the ball better, and rediscover the offensive rhythm that has been missing in recent outings.
