Slovan Bratislava Women secured a solid 75-60 home victory over CBK Kosice Women in the Slovak Women's Basketball Extraliga, extending their strong run in front of their own supporters. A dominant second quarter proved decisive, and the hosts managed the closing stages with the calm of a team that expects to be competing at the top of the table.

The win was built on balanced scoring, aggressive perimeter defence and a rebounding advantage that gave Bratislava repeated second-chance opportunities. Kosice competed hard but struggled to generate consistent offence against a defence that closed down driving lanes quickly.

Key moments

Bratislava led by five after the first quarter, but it was the opening six minutes of the second that decided the contest. A 13-2 run — featuring two three-pointers from the wings and a pair of fast-break layups off Kosice turnovers — turned a competitive game into a commanding one. Kosice called timeout, adjusted their matchups and stemmed the bleeding, but the psychological advantage had already shifted.

Kosice's best passage came early in the third quarter, when a 7-0 burst trimmed the deficit to eleven and briefly silenced the home crowd. Bratislava's response was measured: a post-up basket, a made free throw and a defensive stop, followed by a corner three that restored a comfortable cushion. From that point, the hosts never allowed the gap to dip into single digits again.

Tactical story

Slovan Bratislava's defensive game plan centred on limiting Kosice's half-court rhythm. They pressured the ball handler well beyond the three-point line, forced the offence to start later in the shot clock, and rotated sharply to contest jump shots. The result was a low shooting percentage for the visitors and a series of rushed attempts late in possessions.

Offensively, Bratislava played inside-out. Their post players established deep position early, drawing double-teams that freed up shooters on the perimeter. When Kosice switched to a zone, Bratislava responded with patient ball reversal and high-low entries, consistently generating quality looks without forcing the issue.

The rebounding battle told its own story. Bratislava's frontcourt controlled both boards, limiting Kosice's second-chance points while creating extra possessions at the other end. In a game where neither team shot the ball exceptionally well from deep, those extra opportunities were the difference.

Standout players

Bratislava's leading scorer set the tone with an efficient performance, mixing drives to the basket with mid-range jumpers, and also contributed on the defensive end with deflections and rebounds. Their point guard controlled tempo throughout, finishing with a strong assist-to-turnover ratio, while the bench provided energy in the second quarter that helped build the decisive lead.

For CBK Kosice, the standout performer was their shooting guard, who kept her team competitive with timely baskets in the third quarter. Their centre worked hard on the glass against a physical opponent, and their young guards gained valuable minutes against one of the stronger sides in the competition.

Season impact

With the win, Slovan Bratislava Women reinforce their position among the leading group in the Slovak Women's Basketball Extraliga. Home victories carry extra significance in a league where travel and scheduling can affect form, and this result adds to a growing home record that will be important as the season progresses toward the play-off picture.

For Kosice, the defeat is a reminder of the gap that still exists against the league's top tier, but the performance contained positives. Their defensive effort in the third quarter showed they can compete when their intensity is high; the challenge is sustaining it for forty minutes.

Bratislava will now look to carry this momentum into their next fixtures, while Kosice will target a response on home territory. On this evidence, the Bratislava side remains a genuine contender in the race for the Extraliga title.
