Defense sets the tone

Banská Bystrica’s defense was the foundation of the win. The hosts out-rebounded Košice 44-28, blocked six shots, and forced 20 turnovers. Their interior defense made every Košice drive difficult, while their perimeter rotations contested three-point attempts. On offense, Banská Bystrica shared the ball well and attacked the basket with purpose. The team’s forwards controlled the offensive glass, creating second-chance points that repeatedly broke Košice’s momentum. The hosts also got strong production from their bench, which helped maintain intensity even when the starters rested.

Standout performers

For CBK Košice Women, the night was difficult, but a few players kept competing. Their top scorer reached double figures and attacked the rim despite heavy contact. However, the team’s overall shooting struggles and turnovers made it impossible to close the gap after the first quarter.

What it means

The win is a strong statement for SKP 08 Banská Bystrica Women in the Slovak Women's Basketball Extraliga. It improves their standing and reinforces their home-court advantage, while giving the roster confidence ahead of a demanding stretch of fixtures.

CBK Košice Women will need to regroup quickly. The loss exposed problems with ball security and half-court execution, but there is still plenty of season left to correct them. In the next game, Košice will look to slow the tempo and generate cleaner looks on offense.
