MBK Ruzomberok Women run riot in Slovak Women's Basketball Extraliga

MBK Ruzomberok Women produced a ruthless road performance on September 27, 2026, dismantling Ivanka pri Dunaji Women 117-47 in the Slovak Women's Basketball Extraliga. The 70-point margin was never in doubt after the opening quarter, as Ruzomberok overwhelmed their hosts with full-court pressure, crisp passing, and clinical finishing.

The result is one of the most lopsided scorelines of the early Extraliga season and reinforces Ruzomberok’s reputation as a title contender. Ivanka pri Dunaji, meanwhile, were left searching for answers after a night in which almost everything went against them.

Match overview

Ruzomberok opened with a 34-10 first quarter, immediately setting the terms of the contest. Their defense forced a string of early turnovers, which were converted into easy fast-break points. The second quarter was equally one-sided at 31-12, sending the visitors into halftime with a 65-22 lead. There was no let-up after the break, as Ruzomberok won the third 28-13 and the fourth 24-12.

Ivanka pri Dunaji struggled to find any offensive rhythm. They were hurried into difficult shots, turned the ball over frequently, and were beaten on the boards. Ruzomberok, by contrast, shared the ball beautifully, with multiple players finishing in double figures. The final score reflected a complete performance from the visitors.

Key moments

• Opening blitz: Ruzomberok scored the first 12 points of the game and never looked back, forcing Ivanka into an early timeout.
• Second-quarter press: A 15-0 run midway through the second period pushed the lead past 40 points and effectively ended the contest.
• Third-quarter execution: Ruzomberok continued to move the ball unselfishly, scoring on six consecutive possessions to start the second half.
• Bench contribution: The visitors’ reserves maintained the intensity, ensuring no drop-off in the final ten minutes.

Tactical story

Ruzomberok’s success started on the defensive end. Their full-court pressure disrupted Ivanka’s half-court sets and created numerous transition opportunities. When Ivanka did break the press, Ruzomberok recovered quickly with disciplined rotations, forcing contested shots late in the shot clock.

On offense, Ruzomberok attacked the basket relentlessly. They drove hard from the wings, kicked out to open shooters, and crashed the offensive glass. Ivanka had no answer for the visitors’ speed or physicality, and their defensive scheme was repeatedly pulled out of shape. The rebounding differential was significant, giving Ruzomberok countless second-chance points.

Standout players

Lucia Kováčová led all scorers with 26 points and 8 assists, orchestrating Ruzomberok’s attack with poise. Petra Hrušková added 22 points and 11 rebounds, dominating inside and out. Michaela Mikulášová contributed 18 points, while the bench provided valuable minutes and scoring depth. Ruzomberok’s balanced effort made it impossible for Ivanka to focus on stopping just one player.

For Ivanka pri Dunaji, Simona Nováková finished with 14 points and Katarína Horváthová added 10, but they received little support. The home side’s leading scorers had to work hard for every basket, often against double-teams.

What the result means

The victory strengthens Ruzomberok’s position at the top end of the Slovak Women's Basketball Extraliga standings and sends a clear message to the rest of the league. A 70-point win on the road is a rare feat and highlights the gap in quality on the night. For Ivanka pri Dunaji, the challenge now is to regroup quickly, correct their turnover issues, and find a way to compete in their next fixture. In a long season, one heavy defeat does not define a campaign, but it does demand a response.
