MBA Moscow Women secured a 76-70 road win over VLSU Vladimir University Women in the Russian Women’s Basketball Premier League on 21 October 2026. The game was tight for long stretches, but MBA’s late-game execution and defensive discipline proved decisive.

Match overview

VLSU Vladimir University Women started strongly, using their size inside and an energetic home crowd to build an early edge. MBA Moscow Women stayed patient, moving the ball around the perimeter and attacking closeouts. The lead changed hands several times, and neither team could create much separation before halftime.

The second half became a grind. Vladimir continued to look inside, while MBA relied on guard penetration and kick-out threes. The difference came in the final five minutes, when MBA tightened their defense and forced Vladimir into difficult shots. On the other end, MBA made the extra pass and converted the open looks that appeared.

Key moments

The decisive run came late in the fourth quarter. MBA strung together a handful of stops and turned them into points, briefly pushing the lead to two possessions. Vladimir responded with a basket inside, but MBA’s free-throw shooting and offensive rebounding kept the home side from completing the comeback. A late turnover ended Vladimir’s last realistic chance.

Tactical story

MBA’s half-court defense was the key. They crowded Vladimir’s post entries and forced the guards to make decisions under pressure. Offensively, MBA’s spacing created driving lanes and open corner shots. Vladimir won stretches with their interior scoring and rebounding, but MBA’s balance and composure in the closing minutes proved more sustainable.

Standout players

MBA’s guards controlled tempo and made big shots when the game tightened. Their wings were active in the passing lanes and on the defensive glass. For Vladimir, the inside scoring and effort on the boards stood out, but the team needed more consistent perimeter shooting to counter MBA’s packed defense.

Season impact

The road win gives MBA Moscow Women an important result in the Russian Women’s Basketball Premier League table and reinforces their reputation as a team that can close out tight games. VLSU Vladimir University Women will take encouragement from their competitiveness, but they will need to clean up late possessions to turn narrow losses into wins.
