Sportiva Azores Airlines Women delivered a strong 81-64 victory over CP Esgueira Women in the Liga Feminina de Basquetebol on October 25, 2026, using a balanced offensive display and a decisive second-half run to pull away. The 17-point margin underlined the hosts’ control over the closing stages.

Match overview

Sportiva Azores Airlines started with good energy and moved the ball well against Esgueira’s defense. The first half was competitive, with Esgueira keeping pace through outside shooting and transition baskets, but Sportiva gradually tightened its defense and began to dictate terms.

The decisive separation came after halftime. Sportiva increased its defensive pressure, forced turnovers, and turned those opportunities into quick points. Esgueira stayed competitive but could not match the hosts’ scoring depth over the full 40 minutes.

Key moments

• A third-quarter run gave Sportiva a double-digit lead and forced Esgueira to chase the game.
• Sportiva’s defensive pressure created consecutive turnovers that turned into easy baskets.
• Esgueira made a brief fourth-quarter push, but Sportiva answered with a run of its own to close the door.

Tactical story

Sportiva’s offense was at its best when it attacked early in the shot clock and shared the ball. The hosts found cutters, knocked down open perimeter shots, and capitalized on second-chance opportunities. Defensively, Sportiva’s rotations improved as the game wore on, making it difficult for Esgueira to find clean looks.

Esgueira had success when it played inside-out and attacked the offensive glass, but the visitors’ shooting cooled in the second half. Sportiva’s ability to control the tempo and force turnovers proved to be the difference.

Standout performers

Sportiva received contributions across the roster, with multiple players scoring in double figures and the bench providing energy on both ends. The guards controlled the pace, while the frontcourt protected the rim and cleaned up the boards. Esgueira’s leading scorer had a solid outing, but the team’s offensive consistency faded after halftime.

Season impact

The win is an important one for Sportiva Azores Airlines in the Liga Feminina de Basquetebol standings and adds momentum to their home form. For CP Esgueira, the loss highlights the need for greater consistency on the road, though the team’s first-half performance showed it can compete when its offense is flowing.
