Sanjannis women’s basketball team produced a dominant 88-65 victory over Coimbroes Women in the Liga Feminina de Basquetebol on October 25, 2026, turning a competitive opening into a convincing 23-point win. The hosts controlled the game after the first quarter and never allowed Coimbroes to mount a serious comeback.

Match overview

Sanjannis set the tone with aggressive defense and quick ball movement, repeatedly finding open shooters against a Coimbroes side that struggled to contain penetration. The first quarter was relatively close, but Sanjannis gradually pulled away by forcing turnovers and turning them into transition points.

By halftime, the hosts had established a double-digit cushion. Coimbroes fought to stay within reach in the third quarter, but Sanjannis answered every run with a timely basket and maintained a comfortable margin through the final minutes.

Key moments

• A late first-half run gave Sanjannis a double-digit lead and shifted the momentum for good.
• Sanjannis’ full-court pressure created repeated steals and easy fast-break opportunities.
• Coimbroes’ best stretch came early in the third quarter, but Sanjannis responded with a decisive 10-2 run.

Tactical story

Sanjannis’ defensive pressure was the story of the night. The hosts disrupted Coimbroes’ rhythm, forced rushed shots, and controlled the defensive glass. Offensively, Sanjannis shared the ball well and attacked the paint whenever Coimbroes overextended on the perimeter.

Coimbroes had some success inside but could not match Sanjannis’ pace for four quarters. The visitors’ turnovers proved costly, and Sanjannis converted those mistakes into the kind of efficient scoring that turns a close game into a comfortable win.

Standout performers

Sanjannis received a balanced scoring effort, with multiple players contributing in double figures. The backcourt set the tempo on both ends, while the frontcourt controlled the boards and finished around the rim. Coimbroes’ leading scorer worked hard to keep the visitors competitive, but the support around her was limited.

Season impact

The win strengthens Sanjannis’ position in the Liga Feminina de Basquetebol standings and adds confidence to a team playing well on its home floor. For Coimbroes, the defeat is a reminder of the level required to compete with the league’s stronger sides, but there were enough positive spells to build on in the next fixture.
