Denso Iris Women Beat KB Stars 80-65 in FIBA Women’s Basketball League Asia

Denso Iris Women secured an 80-65 victory over KB Stars in the FIBA Women’s Basketball League Asia on October 22, 2026, using a composed defensive performance and balanced scoring to pull away after halftime. The Japanese side led for long stretches and never allowed KB Stars to find a consistent offensive rhythm, securing a result that boosts their standing in the competition.

Match Overview

KB Stars began with competitive energy, but Denso Iris gradually took control by forcing turnovers and limiting clean looks. The game was still within reach at the end of the first quarter, but Denso’s defensive pressure and ball movement created separation in the second and third periods. By the final quarter, the Japanese side was able to manage the game and protect its lead.

Quarter scores: 16-20, 14-19, 18-21, 17-20.

Quarter-by-Quarter Breakdown

Denso opened with a four-point lead after the first quarter and extended it to nine by halftime. The second period was particularly important, as KB Stars struggled to score against Denso’s set defense. Denso’s guards controlled the tempo and found open shooters on the perimeter.

The third quarter followed a similar pattern. Denso continued to move the ball and attack mismatches, while KB Stars had difficulty stringing together stops. A 21-point third period gave Denso a 60-48 cushion heading into the final quarter. KB Stars improved their effort in the fourth, but Denso’s lead was already too comfortable.

Key Moments

The decisive stretch came late in the second quarter, when Denso turned a narrow advantage into a double-digit lead with a series of defensive stops and quick baskets. KB Stars had chances to close the gap early in the third, but missed shots and turnovers allowed Denso to keep control. Every time KB Stars threatened, Denso responded with a timely three or an offensive rebound.

Tactical Story

Denso’s defense was the foundation of the win. They pressured the ball, rotated well, and forced KB Stars into difficult shots. Offensively, Denso shared the ball and attacked the paint when the perimeter was contested. Their balance made it difficult for KB Stars to focus on one scorer or one area of the floor.

KB Stars showed fight on the boards but struggled with efficiency. Their half-court offense became stagnant at times, and they were unable to convert enough second-chance opportunities to stay close. Defensively, they had trouble containing Denso’s dribble penetration and closeouts.

Standout Performances

Denso’s backcourt dictated the pace and consistently made the right decisions in pick-and-roll situations. Their forwards contributed on both ends, especially on the defensive glass. KB Stars received a strong effort from their interior players, but the team needed more consistent perimeter scoring to mount a comeback.

Table Impact

The win strengthens Denso Iris Women’s position in the FIBA Women’s Basketball League Asia standings and gives them confidence heading into their next fixture. For KB Stars, the loss highlights the need for better offensive execution and improved perimeter defense. With the competition still developing, both teams will understand the importance of momentum.

Final Thoughts

Denso Iris Women were the more complete team, combining defensive discipline with balanced scoring. KB Stars competed hard but could not solve Denso’s half-court defense or match their efficiency over four quarters. The 80-65 scoreline reflects a controlled performance from Denso and a difficult night for KB Stars.
