Key moments

The critical stretch came with just over six minutes remaining. After Defensores de Maronas had trimmed the lead to four points, San Telmo RS produced a decisive 9-0 run sparked by a steal, a fast-break layup and a corner three-pointer. That burst pushed the advantage back to 67-54 and forced the visitors to chase the game. Defensores fought until the end, but San Telmo’s composure at the free-throw line and control of the defensive glass prevented any late comeback.

Tactical story

San Telmo’s win was built on defense and efficiency. The hosts forced 18 turnovers, converted several of them into transition points and limited Defensores de Maronas to difficult contested shots in the half-court. On offense, San Telmo shared the ball well and attacked the basket with purpose, finishing with a balanced scoring effort. Defensores de Maronas found success inside at times, particularly through Marcelo Bentancor, but their perimeter shooting was inconsistent and they struggled to string together stops when the game tightened.

Standout performers

• Federico Ramos led San Telmo RS with 18 points and seven rebounds, scoring important baskets in both halves.
• Agustín Pereira added 14 points and six assists, controlling the tempo from the backcourt.
• Martín Cáceres recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, anchoring the defense.
• For Defensores de Maronas, Marcelo Bentancor finished with 20 points and nine rebounds, while Diego Fagúndez scored 12.

Table impact and what’s next

The result gives San Telmo RS another important win in the Tercera de Ascenso and reinforces their credentials as a team capable of competing on both ends of the floor. Defensores de Maronas will be disappointed with the fourth-quarter run that decided the game but can take encouragement from their interior play. San Telmo will look to maintain their defensive intensity in the next round, while Defensores will focus on reducing turnovers and improving their late-game execution.
