Juventud Las Piedras defeated BBC Layva 79-69 in the Uruguay Tercera de Ascenso on October 30, 2026, using a balanced scoring effort and a decisive fourth-quarter run to protect home advantage.

Juventud Las Piedras led for much of the game but had to withstand a stubborn BBC Layva side that stayed within touching distance through three quarters. The hosts finally created separation in the final period, combining timely shot-making with defensive stops to close out a ten-point victory.

Match overview

The game was a competitive, physical contest in which neither team allowed the other to pull away easily. Juventud Las Piedras held a narrow advantage after the first quarter and extended it slightly by halftime. BBC Layva remained within range entering the fourth, but the hosts found another gear when it mattered most. The quarter-by-quarter scoring read:

• First quarter: Juventud Las Piedras 20-17 BBC Layva
• Second quarter: Juventud Las Piedras 19-16 BBC Layva
• Third quarter: Juventud Las Piedras 18-19 BBC Layva
• Fourth quarter: Juventud Las Piedras 22-17 BBC Layva
• Final score: Juventud Las Piedras 79-69 BBC Layva

The final margin was built on a strong closing stretch rather than one dominant quarter. Juventud Las Piedras’ ability to score in the paint and get to the free-throw line in the fourth quarter proved decisive.

Key moments

BBC Layva cut the deficit to four points early in the fourth quarter and had possession with a chance to make it a one-possession game. Juventud Las Piedras responded with a pivotal defensive stop, then converted at the other end through a drive-and-kick sequence that produced an open corner three. That sparked a 9-2 run, giving the hosts enough breathing room to control the final minutes. BBC Layva continued to fight, but Juventud’s rebounding and composure at the line sealed the result.

Tactical story

Juventud Las Piedras’ half-court offense was patient and balanced, with multiple players contributing in scoring positions. Their interior passing created easy baskets, and their guards did a good job of penetrating without turning the ball over. BBC Layva stayed competitive through their outside shooting and transition opportunities, but they struggled to contain Juventud’s second-half adjustments, particularly the increased emphasis on paint touches.

Standout performers

Juventud’s frontcourt controlled the boards and provided a steady scoring presence near the rim, while their guards made key plays in the fourth quarter. The team’s defensive communication improved as the game wore on, limiting BBC Layva’s clean looks from three-point range. BBC Layva’s perimeter players kept the visitors in contention, but the team lacked a final offensive response when Juventud tightened its defense.

What the result means

The 79-69 win gives Juventud Las Piedras a valuable home result in the Uruguay Tercera de Ascenso and reinforces their ability to execute in close games. BBC Layva will take encouragement from their competitiveness but will be frustrated by the late scoring drought that allowed the hosts to pull away. For Juventud, the victory is a solid building block as the season progresses.
