Capurro ground out a hard-fought 74-68 victory over San Telmo RS in the Uruguay Tercera de Ascenso on 1 October 2026. In contrast to the night's other high-scoring affair, this was a defensive battle decided by execution in the closing minutes.

The Decisive Stretch

With the game hanging in the balance entering the fourth quarter, Capurro found an extra gear. A well-executed offensive set produced a key basket, followed by a crucial defensive stop and a pair of converted free throws. San Telmo RS had chances to respond but could not find the timely shot.

Standout Performers

Capurro's composure in the final minutes was the defining feature of their performance. Their primary scorers delivered when it mattered most, and their defensive rotations held firm under pressure. Rebounding at both ends gave them the extra possessions that ultimately separated the two sides.

San Telmo RS will feel they left something behind. They defended well for long stretches and kept the game within reach, but a handful of missed opportunities in the fourth quarter proved costly. Their effort across the full 40 minutes was commendable even in defeat.

Season Impact

San Telmo RS remain competitive in the division, and the narrow margin suggests this is a matchup that could swing the other way later in the season.
