Auriblanco produced one of the standout defensive performances of the Uruguay Tercera de Ascenso season on October 22, 2026, defeating Bohemios 71-45 at home. The 26-point margin reflected a controlled, physical display in which Auriblanco gradually pulled away after a competitive opening quarter and never allowed Bohemios to settle into a rhythm.

Match overview

Auriblanco opened with a 18-10 first quarter, using early pressure on the ball and quick transition baskets to establish the tone. Bohemios responded with better spacing in the second period, but Auriblanco’s bench maintained the intensity and helped push the halftime lead to 34-22. The decisive break came in the third quarter, when the hosts outscored Bohemios 21-12 to turn a comfortable advantage into a commanding one at 55-34. The final period was played at a slower pace, with Auriblanco managing the clock and protecting the paint on the way to a 71-45 finish.

Key moments

The game’s turning point arrived early in the third quarter. Bohemios had briefly threatened to make it a single-digit contest, but Auriblanco answered with a 14-2 run built on defensive stops, offensive rebounds and two timely three-pointers. That surge took the score from 34-28 to 48-30 and effectively removed the visitors’ momentum. From there, Auriblanco’s half-court defense continued to force contested shots, while Bohemios struggled to find second-chance points.

Tactical story

Auriblanco’s success was rooted in discipline rather than speed. The hosts protected the defensive glass, limited easy drives and forced Bohemios into long possessions. On offense, Auriblanco moved the ball patiently, attacking mismatches inside and kicking out when the defense collapsed. The rebounding battle was a major factor, with Auriblanco holding a clear edge on the boards and converting several offensive rebounds into second-chance points. Bohemios, by contrast, relied heavily on perimeter shooting and found few clean looks as the game wore on.

Standout performers

• Matías Ferreyra led Auriblanco with 17 points, adding five rebounds and four assists in a composed all-around display.
• Gonzalo Techera controlled the interior with 12 points and 13 rebounds, including several key offensive boards in the third-quarter run.
• Facundo Olivera finished with nine points and seven assists, directing the offense efficiently in the second half.
• For Bohemios, Diego Larrañaga scored 11 points, while Joaquín Varela added eight in a losing effort.

Table impact and what’s next

The win gives Auriblanco an important boost in the Tercera de Ascenso standings and reinforces their reputation as one of the more organized defensive sides in the division. For Bohemios, the result is a reminder of the difficulty of scoring against compact, physical opponents in the lower divisions of Uruguayan basketball. Auriblanco will look to carry the same defensive intensity into their next fixture, while Bohemios will focus on improving their ball movement and rebounding before their next outing.
