Quick facts

• Final score: Larranaga 91, Atletico Aguada 75
• Competition: Uruguay Liga Uruguaya
• Date: October 28, 2026
• Quarter scores: 24-18, 22-19, 25-20, 20-18

How the game unfolded

Larranaga set the tone early with a patient half-court attack and active defense. The hosts moved the ball well, attacked the paint when the opportunity appeared and kept Aguada from finding easy rhythm from the perimeter. A 24-18 first quarter gave Larranaga the early edge, and they extended it to nine points by halftime at 46-37.

The decisive stretch came in the third quarter. Larranaga opened the second half with sharper defensive pressure, forced Aguada into contested shots and converted rebounds into quick offense. A 25-20 quarter pushed the lead into double digits, and the hosts managed the final period comfortably, never allowing Atletico Aguada to mount a serious late comeback.

Key moments

The game’s turning point arrived midway through the third quarter when Larranaga produced a sustained run built on defensive stops. Aguada had stayed within striking distance through the first half, but the hosts’ ability to score in transition and draw fouls changed the momentum. From there, Larranaga’s bench helped maintain energy, and the lead remained secure.

Aguada’s best spell came late in the second quarter, when they briefly reduced the deficit with outside shooting and second-chance points. However, the visitors could not sustain that pressure. Larranaga answered with composed possessions and did not allow the game to become a single-possession contest after halftime.

Tactical story

Larranaga’s defensive approach was central to the win. They protected the paint, limited clean looks at the rim and forced Aguada to rely on contested perimeter shots. On offense, the hosts shared the ball effectively and avoided overdribbling, which kept Aguada’s defense moving from side to side.

Atletico Aguada, by contrast, struggled to find consistent scoring balance. Their perimeter shooting was streaky, and when Larranaga tightened the defense in the third quarter, Aguada had few easy answers. The rebounding battle also favored the hosts, giving Larranaga extra possessions and helping them control the game’s pace.

Standout performers

Larranaga’s scoring spread was one of the most encouraging aspects of the performance. Rather than depending on a single top scorer, the hosts received contributions from multiple positions, making them harder to defend. Their backcourt managed the tempo well, while the frontcourt provided physical play on the glass and timely interior scoring.

For Atletico Aguada, the effort remained visible until the final minutes, but the team lacked the offensive consistency needed to close the gap. Their best moments came when they pushed the pace, yet Larranaga’s control of the half court prevented those spurts from becoming a sustained comeback.

Liga Uruguaya standings impact

The 16-point win strengthens Larranaga’s position in the Liga Uruguaya standings and adds a valuable home result to their record. In a league where home form and point differential can matter over the course of the season, a 91-75 scoreline is a useful boost. For Atletico Aguada, the loss is a reminder that road games require more consistent execution on both ends.

Larranaga will look to carry the defensive intensity into their next fixture, while Aguada must regroup quickly and find more balance in their scoring attack. The result gives Larranaga momentum and reinforces their ability to control games when their defense sets the tone.
