Hebraica y Macabi edged Urunday Universitario 80-77 in a tense Uruguay Liga Uruguaya matchup on 25 October 2026, surviving a late comeback attempt and sealing the result with composed play in the final minute. The game was close throughout, with neither side able to build a comfortable lead until the closing possessions.

Match overview

Hebraica y Macabi and Urunday Universitario traded blows for much of the night in a game that felt like a playoff preview. The lead changed hands repeatedly, and both teams found answers whenever the other threatened to pull away. In the end, Hebraica’s execution in the final two minutes proved decisive.

The 80-77 scoreline reflects the balance of the contest. Urunday matched Hebraica for long stretches with physical interior play and timely perimeter shooting, but Hebraica had the calmer finish when the game reached its most pressurized moments.

Key moments

The first half was played at a sharp pace, with both teams looking to attack early in the shot clock. Hebraica y Macabi found rhythm through ball movement, while Urunday Universitario stayed close by attacking the basket and drawing fouls. Neither defense was able to impose itself for long, and the teams went into the break with little separation.

The fourth quarter produced the game’s defining stretch. Urunday tied the score late after a run built on offensive rebounds and free throws, forcing Hebraica to respond. Hebraica answered with a key basket in the paint and a defensive stop on the next possession. A pair of late free throws stretched the lead to three, and Urunday’s final attempt to tie fell short.

Tactical story

Hebraica y Macabi’s half-court offense relied on patience and screening action. They generated good looks by moving the ball and attacking mismatches, and their guards made smart decisions when Urunday switched defenses. Hebraica also did a better job of protecting the ball in the final quarter, limiting the live-ball turnovers that could have fueled Urunday’s comeback.

Urunday Universitario’s best offense came from inside-out play. Their big men worked hard on the offensive glass, and their guards attacked the paint to create kick-out opportunities. The issue was late-game execution: a few rushed possessions and missed free throws left them chasing the game in the final seconds.

Standout performers

Hebraica’s perimeter leaders controlled the tempo and came up with important baskets when the shot clock wound down. Their frontcourt also contributed crucial rebounds and defensive stops in the fourth quarter. It was a balanced winning effort built on poise rather than a single dominant scoring night.

Urunday Universitario got a strong interior performance and competitive minutes from their bench. Their guards competed on both ends and kept the team within reach. The loss will sting, but the performance showed enough fight to suggest they will remain dangerous in the Uruguay Liga Uruguaya standings.

League impact

The win is a valuable one for Hebraica y Macabi because it came against a direct competitor in a tight game. In a league where home-court advantage and late-game execution can shape the table, closing out an 80-77 result is exactly the kind of experience that builds confidence.

For Urunday Universitario, the defeat is narrow enough to offer encouragement. They proved they can trade punches with Hebraica and nearly forced overtime. The focus will now turn to cleaning up late possessions and finding a little more shot quality in the final two minutes. Hebraica take the win; Urunday take the belief.
