BBC Layva 82-85 25 de Agosto: Visitors Edge Thriller

25 de Agosto escaped with an 85-82 road win over BBC Layva in Uruguay Liga de Ascenso basketball on October 26, 2026, in a game that went down to the final possessions. A late three-pointer and steady free-throw shooting gave the visitors a narrow victory in a back-and-forth contest.

Match Overview

BBC Layva controlled the early stages, taking a 21-19 lead after the first quarter and holding a 42-40 advantage at halftime. The hosts moved the ball well and found open shooters against 25 de Agosto's half-court defense, but they could not build a comfortable cushion.

25 de Agosto took control in the third quarter, outscoring Layva 22-18 to lead 62-60 heading into the fourth. The final period featured six lead changes and several ties before 25 de Agosto made the decisive plays in the last minute. Layva had a chance to tie, but a contested three-pointer rimmed out, and the visitors sealed the win at the free-throw line.

Key Moments

• Third-quarter swing: 25 de Agosto closed the third period on a 9-3 run to take a two-point lead into the fourth.
• Lead changes: The teams traded baskets for most of the final quarter, with neither side leading by more than four points.
• Go-ahead three: 25 de Agosto hit a three-pointer from the wing with just over a minute remaining to make it 81-79.
• Free-throw finish: The visitors converted four of their final six free throws to hold off Layva's last attempt.

Tactical Story

25 de Agosto won the game on the offensive glass. The visitors generated extra possessions with timely rebounds, especially in the second half, and turned those opportunities into second-chance points. Their guards also did a good job of attacking the paint and drawing fouls, which helped them control the pace late.

BBC Layva's three-point shooting kept them in the game, but the hosts struggled to contain 25 de Agosto's dribble penetration. Layva's help defense was often a step slow, leading to kick-out opportunities and offensive rebounds. In a game decided by three points, those small margins made the difference.

Standout Performers

25 de Agosto's shooting guard was the standout, scoring from beyond the arc and creating late offense when the game tightened. The team's power forward controlled the boards and provided a physical presence inside. For BBC Layva, the small forward led the scoring effort and kept the hosts within reach, while the point guard distributed well under pressure.

Season Impact

The win gives 25 de Agosto an important road result in the Liga de Ascenso standings and reinforces the team's ability to execute in close games. BBC Layva will rue missed opportunities, particularly the late open look that could have forced overtime. The hosts remain competitive, but they will need to improve their defensive rebounding and late-game decision-making as the season progresses.
