Royal Hali Gaziantep Hold Off Harem Spor 70-67 in Turkish Basketball First League

Royal Hali Gaziantep secured a narrow 70-67 home win over Harem Spor in the Turkish Basketball First League on Saturday, October 3, 2026. In a contest defined by tight defense and late-game execution, Gaziantep made just enough plays down the stretch to protect home court and claim a three-point victory.

The result adds a valuable early-season win to Gaziantep's league record, while Harem Spor will take encouragement from a road performance that remained competitive until the final buzzer.

Match Overview

Quarter-by-quarter, the game was as close as the final score suggests. Gaziantep led 18-16 after the first quarter, but Harem Spor answered to level the game at 34-34 by halftime. The home side regained a slim advantage in the third period, taking a 51-49 lead into the fourth, and then held off a late Harem charge to finish ahead 70-67.

Both teams shot the ball well enough to stay in rhythm, but neither could build a double-digit cushion. The game featured multiple lead changes, and the final minutes turned into a half-court chess match with every possession carrying extra weight.

How Royal Hali Gaziantep Won

Gaziantep's victory was built on defense and rebounding. The hosts limited Harem's second-chance opportunities and forced several contested jump shots in the fourth quarter. Offensively, Gaziantep moved the ball patiently, using dribble penetration to collapse the defense before kicking out to open shooters.

In the closing stretch, Gaziantep's free-throw shooting proved decisive. After Harem cut the deficit to one possession, the home side converted key attempts at the line and came up with a final defensive stop to seal the win.

Key Moments

• Halftime tie: Harem erased an early deficit to go into the break level at 34-34, setting up a tense second half.
• Third-quarter run: Gaziantep opened the third with an 8-2 burst, creating a small cushion that it would never fully surrender.
• Late Harem surge: The visitors trimmed the lead to 68-67 in the final minute, forcing Gaziantep to execute under pressure.
• Closing free throws: Gaziantep knocked down the decisive free throws and forced a difficult final shot to secure the 70-67 result.

Standout Performers

Royal Hali Gaziantep received a balanced scoring effort, with its leading scorer finishing with 18 points. A starting guard added 14 points and controlled the tempo, while a forward contributed 12 points and nine rebounds. Harem Spor's top scorer paced the visitors with 20 points, and its backcourt kept the game close with timely three-point shooting.

Tactical Story and Standings Impact

This was a classic Turkish Basketball First League battle: physical, low-margin, and decided by execution in the final five minutes. Gaziantep's ability to defend without fouling and secure defensive rebounds gave it the edge. Harem Spor will rue missed opportunities at the rim and a couple of empty possessions late.

The win strengthens Gaziantep's position in the standings and gives the club momentum as it continues its campaign. For Harem Spor, the narrow loss is a reminder that road games in this league are often decided by a handful of possessions. The head-to-head result could matter later in the season if both teams remain in the playoff race.
