DS Grombalia pulled off the upset of the round in the Tunisia Basketball League, edging ES Rades 84-83 on the road in a thriller decided in the final seconds. The result is a significant statement from Grombalia, who beat one of the most decorated clubs in Tunisian basketball on their own floor by the narrowest of margins.

Match Overview

The contest was tight from the opening tip and never opened up, with the lead changing hands repeatedly across all four quarters. Neither side managed to build a double-digit advantage, and the game developed into a tense, possession-by-possession battle featuring heavy physical contact and plenty of free throws.

In the closing minutes the teams traded big shots, but it was the visitors who made the decisive plays on both ends of the floor to steal a one-point win that will be remembered as one of the early highlights of the season.

Key Moments

• Late first half: ES Rades enjoyed their best run of the game, briefly opening a small cushion behind strong inside scoring and a pair of transition baskets.
• Third quarter: Grombalia responded with a composed stretch of half-court offense, cutting the deficit to a single possession heading into the final period.
• Final two minutes: A sequence of clutch free throws and a crucial defensive stop gave the visitors the lead they would not relinquish.
• Final possession: ES Rades had a look to win it, but Grombalia's rotation forced a difficult, contested attempt that rimmed out as the buzzer sounded.

Tactical Story

Grombalia's game plan was built on pace control. Rather than allowing ES Rades to run, they slowed the tempo, used the full shot clock, and forced the home side to defend deep into possessions. That approach limited Rades' transition opportunities — normally one of their greatest strengths in front of a home crowd.

Defensively, Grombalia chose to pack the paint and dare ES Rades to beat them from the perimeter. It was a gamble that largely paid off, as the home side's three-point shooting was streaky and their offensive rebounding was neutralized by determined box-outs.

Standout Performers

Grombalia's lead guard was the architect of the win, controlling tempo and delivering in the clutch at the free-throw line. Their center battled hard on the glass against a physically imposing frontcourt and contributed crucial second-chance points. The bench, too, deserves credit for maintaining energy during ES Rades' strongest spells.

For ES Rades, the interior scorer was the team's most reliable outlet all evening, while their wings created problems with dribble penetration. In the end, however, costly turnovers in the fourth quarter and missed free throws proved decisive in such a narrow defeat.

What It Means for the Standings

The one-point victory gives DS Grombalia a valuable road result in the Tunisia Basketball League standings and boosts confidence ahead of a demanding stretch of fixtures. Winning at ES Rades is a result that carries weight well beyond the two points.

For ES Rades — one of Tunisia's most established clubs and a regular contender both domestically and in continental competition — the loss is a frustrating setback. The margin was so fine that small details, rather than any structural problem, decided the outcome. They remain a serious force in the title race, but they will need to be more clinical in late-game situations going forward.
