Kaohsiung Aquas Edge Hsinchu Lioneers 132-129 in High-Scoring Thriller

Kaohsiung Aquas came away with a dramatic 132-129 road win over Hsinchu Lioneers in the China Taipei Professional Basketball League on October 25, 2026, in one of the season’s most entertaining offensive displays. The teams combined for 261 points in a game that featured relentless pace, deep shooting, and multiple lead changes.

Match Overview

From the opening tip, both sides committed to an up-tempo style. The Lioneers pushed the ball after every made basket and attacked the rim with purpose, while the Aquas answered with quick ball movement and confident three-point shooting. Neither defense was able to impose its will for long, and the first half turned into a track meet with both teams trading runs.

The second half followed a similar pattern. Hsinchu’s home crowd energized the Lioneers during several surges, but Kaohsiung consistently responded with timely shot-making. The final period came down to execution in the half court and free-throw accuracy, and the Aquas made just enough plays down the stretch to escape with a three-point victory.

Key Moments

• Third-quarter shootout: Both teams traded three-pointers in a stretch that pushed the pace to its highest level.
• Fourth-quarter response: Kaohsiung answered every Hsinchu run with a bucket of its own.
• Closing possessions: The Aquas protected the ball and converted key free throws in the final minute.

Tactical Story

Kaohsiung’s advantage came from its perimeter efficiency and ability to score in transition without sacrificing control. The Aquas moved the ball quickly, attacked closeouts, and punished the Lioneers for helping too far into the paint. Defensively, Kaohsiung was far from perfect, but it generated enough stops in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Hsinchu Lioneers were dangerous throughout behind aggressive rim attacks and offensive rebounding. The Lioneers scored in bunches and kept the pressure on, but their defensive rotations were a step slow at critical moments. In a game with so many possessions, a handful of missed assignments and empty trips proved decisive.

Standout Performances

Kaohsiung’s guards were central to the win, controlling pace and knocking down contested shots. The Aquas’ wing players also made timely cuts and converted around the basket. For Hsinchu, the scoring load was spread across the lineup, and the Lioneers’ energy on the offensive glass kept them in the game until the final possession.

What the Result Means

The victory gives Kaohsiung Aquas a valuable road result and a potential tiebreaker edge in the China Taipei Professional Basketball League standings. For Hsinchu Lioneers, the loss is a tough one to absorb after such a strong offensive performance, but it also shows how close the team is to breaking through against top opposition. Both teams will look to tighten their defense while preserving the pace that made this contest so watchable.
